In this pivotal Cyber Security Risk Engineer role, will have in-depth expertise in cybersecurity risk assessment and mitigation. With strong analytical and communication skills, you will work independently to evaluate security vulnerabilities and develop risk management strategies. This role emphasizes both individual contributions and teamwork, prioritizing continuous improvement and effective stakeholder communication.
Role Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks, aligning with best practices and compliance requirements.
- Leverage various tools and methodologies to analyze the effectiveness of existing security measures.
- Collaborate with different departments and teams to integrate risk management practices into their operations.
- Provide guidance on security best practices to internal teams.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest security trends, threats, and technologies.
Role Requirements
- Ability to develop and implement technical solutions to mitigate identified cybersecurity risks.
- Security Tools: Experience with deploying and configuring security tools like firewalls, IDS/IPS, and SIEM solutions to reduce risk.
- Skill in implementing encryption technologies to secure data in transit and at rest.
- Understanding of cloud architectures in AWS, Azure, or GCP, and their inherent risks.
- Experience in implementing and managing cloud-native security features or third-party security solutions in cloud environments.
- Enhanced focus on ensuring that implemented security measures align with organizational policies and external regulations.
- Ability to employ tools and techniques to continuously monitor control performance and related risk factors.
- Ability to identify and catalog potential threats and vulnerabilities across the organization's digital assets.
- Familiarity with various risk assessment frameworks and methodologies like FAIR (Factor Analysis of Information Risk), NIST's RMF (Risk Management Framework), or ISO 31000.
- Skill in applying both quantitative and qualitative methods to assess and prioritize risks.
- Ability to develop, implement, and monitor risk treatment plans to mitigate identified risks.
- Understanding of relevant regulations like GDPR, CCPA, and others that may impact the organization's risk profile.
- Experience in conducting compliance audits to ensure that the organization's cybersecurity measures are in line with regulatory requirements.
- Skill in developing cybersecurity policies that align with compliance and risk management objectives.
- Ability to analyze large sets of data, possibly through SQL queries or using data analytics tools, to identify risk patterns.
- Basic understanding of network and system architectures, as they relate to risk points within an organization.
- Ability to assess the potential business impact of cybersecurity risks, often in monetary terms.
- Capability to communicate risk assessment findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior management
- Certifications preferred but not required: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor), CRISC (Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control).

Salary
The base salary range is $130,000 - 165,000 USD per year, total on target compensation includes a base salary and short-term (15% of base), incentives that align with individual and company performance. Actual salaries will vary based on candidates’ qualifications, skills, and competencies.
