Job Description

T-Rex is a leading provider of cloud migration, cyber security, data analytics, and mission critical services to the US Government.  We are seeking an Information Security (IS) Manager to lead our internal IS function.  Reporting to the CIO, this individual will help develop our IS strategy, lead important IS initiatives, and manage our IS team.  The IS Manager will also lead our IS compliance efforts, including ISO 27001 and CMMC. 

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with business leaders to understand T-Rex’s business dynamics, constraints, security profile, and risk tolerance.
  • Contribute to the development of our IS strategy by aligning positive business outcomes with the goals of confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
  • Improve policies, processes, and procedures to maximize both business and security outcomes with available resources.
  • Suggest and implement improvements to our technology stack to protect T-Rex systems, data, and personnel.
  • Lead and enhance T-Rex cyber security compliance initiatives, including our current ISO 27001, NIST 800-171, and CMMC efforts.
  • Conduct effective risk analysis to support informed and effective business decision-making.
  • Serve as an evangelist for our security culture and training efforts, including security awareness training, brown bags, and end user documentation.
  • Manage the IS team, demonstrating strong leadership behaviors that align with our core values.
  • Manage our event logs and SIEM platform to increase visibility to both normal and abnormal events occurring in our environment.
  • Write scripts to deploy, troubleshoot, analyze, and customize our IS and IT resources.
  • Participate in our insider threat program by helping to proactively identify, respond to, and mitigate insider risks.
  • Optimize our incident response (IR) capabilities and lead periodic exercises.
  • Measure and optimize performance against a set of impactful performance metrics.
  • Serve as the lead analyst in our internal SOC.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose escalated problems and tickets.
  • Ensure compliance with IT policies, data consistency, inventory management, and reporting processes.
  • Coordinate with vendors on issue resolution and ensuring maintenance agreements are in place.
  • Participate in project implementation and deployment efforts with team members, clients, and other IT groups as required.
  • Brief stakeholders on topics such as the status of the IS program, project activities, risk, and operational metrics.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Information Technology, or related field
  • 4+ years of progressive experience in Information Security, which must include:
    • Hands-on experience configuring and securing Office 365, Azure Active Directory, Microsoft Azure, and AWS platforms.
    • Hands-on experience managing, querying, and utilizing Splunk.
  • Advanced PowerShell scripting and system management programming
  • Experience operating an Azure Active Directory (AAD) environment, including Conditional Access, Cloud App Security, and Intune
  • Advanced analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience securing and monitoring Windows 10/11/Server and RHEL in a corporate environment
  • Hands-on experience managing network infrastructure (physical and cloud), including firewalls, routers, switches, network segmentation, etc.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Desired Skills:


  • Microsoft Azure Security Engineer certification preferred.
  • Other relevant certifications (i.e. Splunk, AWS Security, CISSP, OSCP+, etc.) welcome.

In compliance with pay transparency guidelines, the annual base salary range for this position is $125,000 - $150,000. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. T-Rex considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
