Information System Manager

The Platform Engineering Manager is responsible for leading and managing a team of DevOps engineers. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of DevOps principles and practices, as well as experience in the biotech industry. The Platform Engineering Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing platform solutions that support our business goals.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the development and implementation of DevOps processes and tools
• Manage a team, ensuring goals are met, supporting their projects and clearing obstacles
• Collaborate with other teams to ensure that DevOps practices are adopted broadly
• Ensure that the Platform team infrastructure solutions are scalable, reliable, and secure
• Ability and desire to guide team members in their technical and career development
• Manage a budget, including forecasting, fundraising and meeting financial targets
• Advocate for and represent the Platform team to other departments and stakeholders
• Stay up-to-date on the latest DevOps technologies, trends and best practices

Successful Candidates Will Meet Many of the Following Requirements:

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field with equivalent experience
• 10+ years of experience in DevOps, with an emphasis on developer and cloud technologies
• 5+ years of experience managing engineers including recruitment, hiring & compensation
• Strong track record of project delivery including strategy, budget & engineering solutions
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team and larger organization
• Excellent interpersonal skills including communication, both written and presentations
• Ability to delivery on-time & on budget, while managing multiple projects simultaneously

Ways to Standout as a Candidate:

• Experience with High Performance Computing (e.g. AWS Batch, ParallelCluster)
• Experience with container orchestration and/or Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS)
• Exposure or experience working in big pharma, biotech or life-sciences company
• Demonstrated strategic experience, proposing and advancing novel technical ideas

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, CA is $172,300.00 - $319,900.00. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
