Department Summary:

Join MITRE's corporate Information Security team and be at the forefront of security management in technology deployments. Take the lead in helping MITRE demonstrate technical innovation while preserving corporate defenses against Advanced Persistent Threats (APT). Working with other senior InfoSec leaders, provide strategic guidance on the MITRE's adoption of emerging technologies such as mobility, cloud, and collaboration. Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership for the InfoSec Tools and Technology (T&T) component.
  • Provide managerial responsibilities for the Tools and Technology component.
    • Staff performance reviews, goal setting, managing task budget, etc.
  • Evaluating, deploying, and maintaining COTS security software along with open source and specialized home-grown tools
  • Managing vendor relationships
  • Responsible for support of other non-security related tools that support the InfoSec Operations team, to include ticketing systems, virtual desktops, file shares, and databases.
  • Supporting the InfoSec Monitoring & Response team during incident response investigations
  • Directly contribute as a subject matter expert for InfoSec Operations projects
  • Support InfoSec work shaping activities, including engagement planning, staffing needs, and future growth.
  • Gathering and building consensus on security product requirements and running product evaluations to ensure MITRE finds the right tools for its needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience, thorough familiarity with, and demonstrated success understanding and staying technically current in multiple key security areas such as:
    • application aware firewalls
    • EDR/XDR
    • SASE/Zero-trust Architectures
    • Experience with public cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP)
    • SIEM and SOAR Technologies
  • Strong analytical skills. Demonstrated ability to decompose complex technical problems into manageable portions, identify driving factors in technical decisions.
  • Strong technical writing, editing, and presentation skills including demonstrated ability to articulate complex technical topics and recommendations.
  • Must be able to be granted & hold a Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or Cyber Security and 10 years of work experience, or equivalent combination of related education and work
  • Demonstrated success in leading deeply technical InfoSec teams.
  • Prior experience in one or more of the following:
    • Incident investigation
    • Packet brokers
    • Web Application Firewalls
    • Virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V)
    • Sandboxing technologies (e.g., FireEye, Wildfire)
  • Familiarity with security group operations, including continuous monitoring of systems and alarms, incident response, workflow management, GRC tools, etc.
  • Familiarity with corporate information security practices, including threat informed defense, cyber deception, cyber threat analysis and information sharing, risk management
  • Experience with system patching and vulnerability management
  • SASE experience (e.g., Zscaler, Netskope, Prisma)
