How will you make an impact in this role?

The VMware Operations team is part of Cloud Operations and provides 24x7x365 management and Support for American Express Enterprise VMware Virtual Infrastructure. The Infrastructure Engineer position will provide day to day operational support for VMware OS and associated operations. This team will manage vCenter & ESXi hosts throughout the delivery lifecycle and will execute daily operations like upgrades, monitoring, hardware & tools management, scripting for routine tasks and delivery of reliable, robust support solutions.

Focus:

Contributes to analysis of business, application, and technical infrastructure requirements. Supports the design, build, improvement and integration of infrastructure required to support the business portfolio or infrastructure platform in terms of robustness, scalability, availability and efficiency. Supports initiatives that deliver workable end-to-end infrastructure solutions that enforce to Technology standards.

Organizational Context:

Starter-level experienced hire, member of a product engineering or delivery and integration team reporting to a Senior Infrastructure Engineering Manager, Engineering Director or Director of Technical Delivery

How will you make an impact in this role?

• Performs core technical aspects to supports infrastructure implementations, deployments and technologies related to dynamic infrastructure platforms
• Participates in current state system analysis, requirements gathering, and documentation
• Supports configuration and implementation deployments
• Contributes to the creation of technical design/implementation documentation
• Supports requirements understanding and issue resolution
• Participates in troubleshooting capacity and availability issues, various moves/adds/changes, server software installation and configuration
• Participates in test planning and execution
• Work with project teams to prepare components for production
• Provide support for ongoing platform infrastructure availability
• Works on prioritized/assigned features for ongoing sprints

• Building and supporting Linux servers (Physical and Virtual) for mission critical applications.
• Building of infrastructure with automation in mind.
• Basic Troubleshooting and managing VMware, Nutanix, Cisco CUS.
• Root cause analysis and fix production issues.
• Deep Diving into issues to find permanent long-term solution.

Minimum Qualifications

This position requires 10-12 years of experience including:

• 8+ Years of solid Linux Experience, with at least 3 Yrs. of Redhat Linux. Advanced/L3 expertise required.
• 3+ Years of experience with automation and configuration management tools like Puppet, Ansible, etc. Intermediate/L2 expertise required.
• 1+ years of experience with VMware ESXi, Nutanix, Cisco UCS. Intermediate/L2 expertise required

Knowledge on containers, Network components, Storage, Load balancers, Firewalls, RedHat Satellite, Git.

Salary Range: $70,000.00 to $135,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
