Job Description: IT Infrastructure Operations Manager
Summary Description:

The infrastructure operations manager is responsible for working closely with the infrastructure engineers and the applications team to plan, organize and support IT operations to ensure stability of corporate IT infrastructure. This includes developing, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing key functional areas, particularly network infrastructure, server infrastructure, and data communications. The infrastructure operations manager will also schedule and direct activities to resolve system problems in a timely and accurate fashion.

Responsibilities:

Operational Management

• Collaborates with managers and engineers to develop an effective on-call rotation schedule across various teams for 24/7 support.
• Provides direct supervisory responsibility to contractor resources and third party support originations.
• Provides ongoing troubleshooting, support, and maintenance of infrastructure, including 24/7 on call coverage for on premise as well as cloud hosted solutions as required.
• Manage and set priorities for the design, maintenance, development, and evaluation of all infrastructure systems, including LANs, WANs, Internet, intranet, wireless implementations, and so on.
• Maintain an evergreen server environment insuring, OS, applications, backup, AV, monitoring are effectively maintained and upgraded.
• Conduct feasibility studies for various upgrade projects, improvements, and other conversions.
• Works closely with the infrastructure architect to define hardware and infrastructure software standards in conjunction with owners and stakeholders.
• Test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports; develop strategies for maintaining network infrastructure.
• Test server performance and provide network performance statistics and reports; develop strategies for maintaining server infrastructure.
• Work closely with the operations manager to manage operational costs; conduct near- and long-term financial forecasts for expanded functionality/user base.
• Practice IT asset management, including maintenance of component inventory and related documentation.

Position Requirements:

Formal Education & Certification

• Four-year university degree or college diploma in the field of computer science and/or 6-8 years equivalent work experience.
• Certifications in MS Operating Systems and Cisco networking preferred.

Knowledge & Experience

• 6-8 years' experience managing and delivering infrastructure design and operational excellence.
• Exceptional knowledge of service and application delivery, as well as successful service level agreement accomplishments.
• Extensive experience with VMWare and converged infrastructures.
• 4 years successful supervisory experience of an infrastructure team.
• Hands-on experience in troubleshooting hardware.
• Knowledge of current protocols and standards.
• Conversant with programming languages such as .net.
• Application support experience with MS Exchange, SQL, SharePoint, and Office suite.
