Job Summary

Preferred Qualifications:

Interns should be in the process of obtaining a graduate degree (e.g. MBA, PhD, MD, PharmD, Nursing, Masters, etc), and those having a scientific background, intellectual property and/or entrepreneurial experience will be preferred.

Interns will have the opportunity to partner with experienced members of the Business Development & Licensing and NewCo Teams for Cleveland Clinic Innovations to build their commercialization skills. Some projects that they may be able to work on include:• Identify relevant industry contacts following review of invention disclosures, intellectual property, product development and market data.• Develop market collateral including non-confidential documents and short decks for outreach to industry contacts.• Assist in preparations for partnering conferences, including identifying industry partners for outreach for CCI inventions, doing outreach, and preparing marketing collateral.• Participate in meetings with potential commercialization partners to develop industry collaborations, licensing or the formation of start-up companies.• Participate in developing licensing and negotiation strategies to close deals.• Participate in educational programs relating to intellectual property, innovation and commercialization.• Assist the NewCo team strategizing and developing pitch decks for Cleveland Clinic's startups.

Interns need to be able to understand health related inventions in areas including such as therapeutics, medical devices, diagnostics and/or health IT, but are not required to have a degree in science.

Students should have at least a year of time remaining in their program, and the ability to spend 10-20 hours a week on average working with Innovations over that time period.

This position would allow students to work up to full time during breaks and part time during the school year averaging 10-20 hours a week.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Researches, compiles, tabulates, and analyzes data and processes for a variety of administrative and departmental matters.
  • Assists department personnel in assigned administrative, planning, organizational, technical, and professional tasks.
  • Provides suggestions or recommendations with regard to department specific projects.
  • Prepares and presents reports; drafts policies and procedures; responds to requests for information.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Current college enrollment required.

Certifications:

  • None required.

  • Can discuss and weigh pros and cons and separate critical issues.
  • Can make definitive choices, expresses opinions on issues and can explain logical path decisions.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling/lifting items, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
