Job Description

ColdQuanta seeks an exceptional Inside Sales Engineer (ISE) to support the continued sales growth for the Quantum Components business unit. In this role, the newly hired ISE will support the Sales team by providing engineering technical leadership and support to customers on product application and product development through the quote process. This is accomplished by gathering critical-to-application technical information through our qualification process to develop solutions from our product portfolio of standard and custom products that solve the customers' needs. To be successful in this role, the ISE must have a passion for selling, learning about our customers' needs and challenges, and be able to effectively cultivate and grow collaborative relationships with the Sales team and internal Production Engineering and Quality teams. Additionally, the ISE will report to the General Manager, Quantum Components.

Essential Functions

The Inside Sales Engineer is the primary technical point of contact for ColdQuanta's customers during the sales process, starting at the qualification stage through to deal closure, and post-sales support.

Additionally, the sales engineer will:
  • Work with our customers to clearly understand technical specifications, requirements, and other criteria and develop product solutions that meet their needs to help Sales qualify new opportunities for our products
  • Lead discussions and negotiations on technical specifications, requirements, and product delivery through the quote process; Develop accurate information and clearly understood customer needs
  • Work with product management and production engineering to develop accurate costing, pricing, and lead times, developing project plans where appropriate
  • Support the sales team with creating quote packages, including specifications, drawings, and acceptance test documentation
  • Manages timelines and actions for custom projects and new business opportunities by partnering with product management, production engineering and supply chain functions
  • Be the first point of contact to troubleshoot performance issues with customers and support the RMA process for product returns, partnering with Quality and Production to resolve promptly
  • Support sales revenue growth through lead qualification and product solution development
  • By responding to prospects and existing customers, help ensure ColdQuanta's products and support services meet or exceed customer expectations to define the business unit as an industry leader
  • Other tasks as assigned, including customer care meetings, sales process development, voice of customer data collection.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Physics, Optical, Mechanical, or other engineering discipline. Equivalent experience considered
  • 3-5+ years of work experience in atomic optical physics, quantum product technology or related engineering field
  • Engineering experience and knowledge in optics, opto-mechanics, optical coatings, or industrial manufacturing of advanced photonics products
  • Customer-facing sales experience with 2-3+ years minimum with demonstrated success
  • Experience working with and supporting customers from the academic research market and OEM companies
  • Clear and effective communicator (verbal/written/presentation); Ability to fluently write and speak in English
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and execute tactically in an independent manner with minimal supervision; A creative thinker and doer that can help Sales created continued bookings and profitable sales growth
  • Ability to thrive in a startup environment, and enjoys working directly with customers and be comfortable dealing with challenges - technical, commercial, customer - and working to resolve to the benefit of all parties
  • Professional-level understanding of how to read prints/drawings and analyze technical data and information related to complex optical systems
  • Experience with ERP/CRM systems and similar enterprise software platforms (SalesForce, HubSpot, MRPs)
  • Self-motivated and maintains a high ethical standard, all the while showing initiative to anticipate/prevent issues by using advanced problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work well across all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to build followership and win respect of discerning customers and an expert communicator of technical information
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and effectively, and through a collaborative partnership model, support Sales Managers to provide timely support to customers; Proactive engagement with other internal functions (Engineering, Production, Quality, Supply Chain, Shipping)
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to effectively prioritize work activities and tasks
  • Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) to internal stakeholders and customers
  • Proficient in MS Office applications; Experience with SolidWorks or other technical software tools ideal, but not required

Specific Experience and Skills
  • Experience working in advanced manufacturing, industrial manufacturing, or custom engineering involving optics and photonics product technologies
  • Working in a regulated or compliant manufacturing/product development environment (e.g., ISO 9001, 13485, ITAR or similar) and good understanding of regularity requirements to ensure all customer deliverables are met with the highest standards of support and product quality
  • Natural desire and curiosity to learn about the customers' application to help create strong relations and develop winning product solutions that lead to repeat, recurring sales revenue
  • This roles requires work in Boulder and Louisville, and the primary work location is Boulder
  • Travel up to 15%

Benefits

The budgeted salary for this position is between $80,000/year to $110,000/year based on background and experience. (*Compensation range is under review)
