We have an exciting opportunity for an Insight and Oversight Engineer - Rover to join our team.
What you'll do all day:
The Rover Insight and Oversight Engineer will perform the following duties for the Lunar Terrain Vehicle (LTV) and/or Pressurized Rover (PR) projects:
- Support lunar rover development for future Moon vehicle operations
- Provide insight/oversight to project teams and provide robotics subject matter expertise on the cabin and chassis elements of the rovers
- Remain cognizant of the planning, development, review, and maintenance of program requirements including Project Technical Requirements Specification (PTRS), Interface Control Documents (ICDs), Verification and Validation Document (V&VD)
- Support system design reviews and presentations to various boards
- Work with team members to identify risks, develop risk statements, and help them plan risk responses
- Oversee system level architecture trade studies and analyses that will influence the overall system design and performance
- Work in a team environment and report to the customer to provide status on progress, issues, and support needs
- Perform other duties as required

Minimum requirements for this position:

- Requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Engineering and normally possess 5 - 10 years of related experience
- Prior experience with robotics, automotive, and/or automated mobility projects
- Experience with requirements development, design trades, risk analysis, and system analysis of space or automotive hardware
- Familiarity with robotic design and operations
- Basic knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the space hardware field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, material selection, and design software and tools
- Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings
- Familiarity with SharePoint and Microsoft Office products
Desired skills and experience for this position:
- Prior rover experience
- Prior experience in a Systems Engineering role or in a role with Systems Engineering touchpoints
- Experience with NASA JSC Flight Hardware Life Cycle, Certification, and Engineering processes
- Experience with the design, assembly, verification, testing, and operation of space or automotive hardware
- Working knowledge of NASA, JSC, and ISS standard practices and requirements including safety, fault tolerance, and unique disciplines
- Familiarity with NASA/JSC documentation databases and share point sites as well as typical systems engineering software products
