Job Description
Summary
This position is part of the Office of the Inspector General, Department of Energy in the Office of Inspections, Intelligence Oversight, and Special Projects (OIIS). As an Inspector, you will conduct inspection operations at various field sites.
This is a Term Appointment - Time limited more than one year but not more than 4 years. The appointment is not permanent and will not give the employee competitive/permanent status.

- Suitable for Federal employment, as determined by a background investigation.
- May be required to successfully complete a trial period.
- May be required to submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450 or an Executive Branch Personnel Confidential Financial Disclosure Report upon entering the position and annually (5CFR Part 2634, Subpart I USOGE, 6/08).
- Will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
- Recruitment incentive may be authorized to newly appointed federal employee. In return, the employee must sign an agreement to fulfill a period of service with the agency of not less than 6 months and not more than 4 years.
Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized Inspector experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal service directing a performance or allegation-based inspection from planning to reporting. Specific work experience must demonstrate the following: Specialized experience for this position is defined as:
- Review and evaluate the economy, efficiency, and effectiveness of the performance by conducting inspections of programs, organizations, management systems, and activities.
- Utilize appropriate techniques in gathering, documenting, analyzing, and summarizing inspection evidence that is sufficient and appropriate for the inspection objective.

Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
