GENERAL FUNCTION:

Performs brokerage regulatory and sales supervision functions for institutional brokerage new account set up, trade review, and other due diligence required by Fifth Third Securities Institutional Broker/Dealer. The goal is to mitigate risk of loss and regulatory risk incurred by the BD.

While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist in documentation coordination for new account set ups.
  • Assist Middle Office Manager in researching trades for trade review.
  • Review of brokerage account maintenance documents such as obtaining updated 2111 Forms, SMMP Forms, W-9's, and any other regulatory information that would be needed to remain compliant with FINRA, MSRB, etc.
  • Responsibility for determining suitability for all client investment transactions under FINRA Rule 2111.
  • In coordination with the Head of Fixed Income, Head of Sales, BFIS, Head of Equity Capital Mkts, assist in gathering data needed for regulatory inquiries from FINRA, SEC, State Securities Admin Departments, MSRB, etc.
  • Responsible for monitoring and assisting in daily money market portal transactions.
  • Assist in working with the day to day communication with the Fund Families and gathering account set up documents for new money market portal clients.
  • Assist in facilitation of allocation of trades made to accounts out of omnibus accounts.
  • Responsible for account set up on Bloomberg TOMS.
  • Assist in monitoring transactions made for Municipal Bond Proceeds accounts.
  • Obtain and document the necessary information to document transactions as "unsolicited" for Municipal Bond Proceeds accounts.
  • Perform the due diligence required for the Bank Funding & Investor Solutions syndicate approval process and ongoing annual reviews.
  • Partner closely with the brokerage operations group to improve operational procedures and process improvement.
  • Partner with the following departments on various projects: Brokerage Operations, IT, FTS Compliance, Business Controls, Internal Audit, and Capital Markets partners.
  • Assist with the implementation of any new regulatory requirements with regards to trade entry, account documentation, or any other portion of our business process.
  • Assist in account clean up on our clearing broker platform (National Financial Services) to help determine what accounts can be purged (dormant accounts).
  • Perform functions such as account clean up and maintenance including, but not limited to, making sure accounts are named appropriately, parent/child relationships are documented appropriately, clean up Bloomberg accounts, etc.
  • Assist with compliance necessary for transactions as related to Equity Capital Markets.
  • Perform special projects as needed.


MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor degree in Finance, Economics, or related field preferred.
  • Two years of brokerage or related work experience.
  • Securities Industry Essentials (SIE), Required Series 7 and 63. Optional:Series 24 and 53.
  • General knowledge of investment products such as government bonds, corporate bonds, municipal bonds, MBS/CMOs, stocks, ETFs, structured products, brokered CD's, and mutual funds.
  • General knowledge of FINRA, SEC, MSRB, and State Securities rules and regulations.
  • Must be able to appropriately and effectively deal with conflict.
  • Ability to multi-task, strong attention to detail, excellent problem solving and follow-up skills are essential for this position.


WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Normal office environment with little exposure to dust, noise, temperature and the like.
  • Extended viewing of CRT screen.
