Powerhouse Arts is a not-for-profit organization committed to creative expression. Housed in a purpose-built-facility in Brooklyn, the organization hosts an extended network of art and fabrication professionals and educators who work together to co-create and share artistic practices vital to the well-being of artists and the communities to which they serve. Our new facilities house fabrication services, production services, production spaces, and member workshops for artisans.

Powerhouse is seeking an Institutional Giving Manager who will be an integral member of the growing Development team. Reporting to the Development Director, the Institutional Giving Manager will assist with implementing and advancing a robust development plan, supporting all facets of fundraising, and will lead foundation and government funding strategies. The individual will support the Development Director in moves management: identifying, researching, and cultivating prospective donors, while engaging new and existing donors in alignment with the organization’s strategic objectives, mission, and vision. The ideal candidate is deeply engaged with the arts and cultural communities and committed to developing meaningful institutional relationships within an exciting and ambitious nonprofit organization.

Responsibilities:      

Development Administration

  • Support Development Director in developing annual goals and timeline for institutional giving
  • Develop and execute annual strategy for campaigns, grant applications, and development resources for PHA artists and community
  • Track fundraising progress, keeping weekly meeting outlines for donor and prospect strategies and assist with quarterly revenue-tracking summaries in support of full fiscal year plan
  • Manage gift processing and recording in support of development and finance teams
  • Draft written communications for donors & cultivation events, including dedicated newsletters and solicitation, informational, and acknowledgment correspondence
  • Work with the Marketing team on creating collateral for donor mailings, membership materials, event invitations, corporate and event sponsorship proposals & decks, and annual reports
  • Spearhead annual fund giving campaigns and help launch the donor membership program
  • Manage Development’s calendar of cultivation, stewardship, and fundraising events
  • Coordinate quarterly special events for donors, prospects, members, collaborating artists, and partners, working with the Development Director, President, & Fabrication teams

Database Management

  • Become Development’s super-user of Salesforce, PHA’s CRM database, ensuring the system is appropriately used to its full extent, maintaining clean data entry, reporting, and integrations
  • Create accounts for donors and prospects - tracking notable meetings, personal details, and gifts received for donors, and tracking research, relationships, and actions for prospects
  • Attend product development, Salesforce-specific, and Development-specific software webinars
  • Identify new and ongoing requirements and needs, including custom dashboards & reports

Prospect Research & Grant Management

  • Oversee Moves Management tracking, maintaining the evolving donor and prospect pipeline, providing reports during frequent meetings and cultivation approaches
  • Conduct prospect research and prepare profiles for regular review
  • Oversee pipeline and system for foundation and government grants, researching grant opportunities and maintaining grant cycle calendars, preparing applications and reports, while fostering key foundation and government relationships

Other Responsibilities

  • Attend staff meetings and management training sessions
  • Participate in development and organizational events, some  take place outside working hours

  • Well organized: both detail-oriented and big picture thinker

  • Knowledge of NYC philanthropy circles, foundations, & resources
  • Proactive, creative, positive, and resourceful problem solver and communicator
  • Possesses good judgement, discretion, & understanding of fundraising best practices
  • Comfortable engaging with people, cultivating relationships, and facilitating solicitations
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Proficient in donor CRM management, reporting, and external integrations
  • Experience with budget projections, tracking, and reporting
  • 4+ years of relevant work experience

Compensation & Benefits: Salary range is $70,000-$85,000 and commensurate with experience. Benefits include health insurance, an employer-sponsored retirement plan, generous paid vacation, and a Citibike membership.
