Instructional Design & Development Support Specialist
Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Provide recommended instructional design strategies and methods based on instructional outcomes and objectives.
- Develop instructional content using best practices in the Technical Training industry.
- Collaborate with peers and FAA SMEs to establish design specifications including writing learning objectives, sequencing topics, providing content development, and designing exercises.
- Prepare course development documents, including detailed lesson content outlines, user navigation, screen/page template design, storyboard/script development with text, voice, sound, and graphics.
- Review and revise course content based on client feedback.
- Participate in Project Plan development
- Conduct analyses and draft relevant analysis reports: front-end analysis, job task analysis, task and skills analysis, target audience analysis, and media analysis
- Create and/or update Course Design Guides (CDGs).
- Create and/or update Test Blueprints
- Develop/revise training products per FAA requested technology, format, and specifications.
- Develop eLearning/Web-based content using industry standard computer design packages.
- Develop course material to comply with Section 508 accessibility.
- Ensure eLearning courses are Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) and/or Aviation Industry Computer Based Training Committee (AICC) compliant to integrate into FAA's eLMS.
- Provide experience using the FAA's eLearning Management System (eLMS) and BlackBoard (Bb).
- Provide support for the eLearning content integration process, including coordinating with the eLMS content integration team, ensuring that required Content Integration forms are submitted, and posting course files to the Staging Content Server.
- Create/revise and test courses and assessments in the eLMS Staging environment, including configuration of learning item and content object settings.
- Coordinate alpha (Staging) and beta (Production) testing of web-based courses in eLMS and Blackboard.
- Develop/revise graphics and videos per FAA requests.
- Edit and assemble final audio/visual and graphics program materials; ensure consistency and relevancy through to production; and monitor technical quality of end product.
- Develop course material using FAA meta-tagging schema, where applicable.
- Prepare course materials, including [list of relevant course materials, e.g., lessons, student guides, instructor guides, lab guides, assessment items, assessment tools, visual aids, practice exercises, On-The-Job-Training (OJT), Performance Exams (PE)].
- Ensure training materials are written accurately.
- Participate in validation activities, including:
- Course walk-through.
- Operational Tryout.
- First Course Conduct.
- Test, review, and revise course content based on FAA feedback.
- Complete all revisions and corrections after validation activities.
Required Experience:
- 11 -15 years
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving ability
- Demonstrated experience with Designing and Developing Instructional/training materials for workforce development
- Demonstrated experience with communication and outreach to support executive leadership and lower-level teams
- Ability to adapt quickly with dynamic and often competing priorities
- Experience with project/program management to ensure deadlines and milestones are met
- Escalation experience, seeking resolution and relationship mitigation
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suites (Power Point, Project, Word)
- Demonstrated experience developing and support testing procedures to include but not limited to test execution and result reporting
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with FAA stakeholder processes (e.g., Acquisition Management System (AMS process)
- Experience with FAA standards is preferred
- Experience with FAA AMS process and decision points, having the ability to review both technical and financial documentation to provide recommendations.
- Experience with FAA eLMS and other FAA training systems/constructs
Degree Required:
- Bachelor's Degree (Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Education, Trainer, or related field).
Travel:
Not anticipated if so, < 20%
