Role overview
The Instructional Designer is responsible for working closely with stakeholders and business process owners on assigned projects to develop & deliver learning solutions that support Accolade's strategic vision, organizational development and cultural initiatives.
A day in the life...
  • Develop & implement learning strategies & solutions:
    • Collaborate with stakeholders, subject matter experts, and Talent & Development (T&D) team members to design and develop learning solutions using instructional design methodologies, for example; the ADDIE model.
    • Use your influence and communication skills to gain approval of your solution and the resources required to implement it.
  • Manage learning projects:
    • Successfully lead assigned projects from start to finish; identify operational impacts, budget requirements, delegate tasks, and resolve project issues to get the job done.
    • Evaluate the impact of your solutions beyond reaction and transfer of knowledge for change in behavior and return on expectations/investment.
  • Be a role model Instructional Designer:
    • Apply instructional design theory, adult learning theory, evaluation methods, and techniques to your projects.
    • Utilize Learning Management Systems (LMS), popular eLearning authoring applications, and video production/editing tools to develop a range of blended content offerings (presentations, micro learnings, videos, articles, courses, etc.).
    • Stay up to date with the latest trends and technologies, applying them to improve our current processes, procedures, and practices.
    • Support and enhance the capabilities of the Talent & Development team as we work to become a best in class employer.
  • Facilitate learning solutions:
    • Facilitate and/or instruct learning programs when necessary.

What we are looking for...
  • Bachelor's degree in instructional design, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in training with at least 1 or more of those years as an Instructional Designer
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience working with an LMS to manage and trouble shoot curricula, courses, and materials
  • Experience applying learning design models (ADDIE, SAM, Rapid, etc.) and adult learning theories to manage large scale and complex learning solutions with minimal oversight
  • Strong conductive skills, attention to detail and the ability to learn and adapt quickly
  • Brain Scientist: You stay up to date with the neuroscience of learning and apply this knowledge to develop impactful learning solutions
  • Relationship Builder: You have a demonstrated ability to develop relationships with stake holders, subject matter experts, and line level leaders through influence, partnership, and collaboration
  • You get stuff done: You are able to develop a solution and turn that into a reality with support from Talent & Development team members, managing project plans for optimal adoption. You have a scrappy "get it done" mindset
  • You're flexible: You prefer a fast-paced and dynamic environment and are agile and comfortable enough to keep up as plans change and evolve
  • You collaborate: You're the consummate team player, able to build strong relationships and effectively partner with other team members to achieve results
  • Willing to occasionally travel to other Accolade locations (~10% of the time)
