Instructional Designer

Duties

1. Developing and maintaining key relationships with the Director of Training, The Center staff in Online Education, Diversity & Belonging, and Leadership Integration, and Area Ministries staff (collectively ministry partners) to collaborate and create Joni and Friends online education and training coursework through Canvas and other platforms
2. Using content provided by the Director of Training and subject matter experts, creating engaging learning activities and compelling course content based on identified training needs
3. Applying tested instructional design theories, practice, and methods
4. Evaluating and implementing best practices regarding online accessibility, copyright, universal design, alignment with course learning objectives, continuing education standards, and overall use of Canvas and other platforms that enhance the learning experience
5. Establishing procedures to maintain quality control and complete all deliverables when due
6. Assisting in identifying, assessing, and using available tools for data analytics
7. Gathering feedback to assess effectiveness and identifying areas for improvement
8. Assisting with Canvas support including content uploads, user support, and reporting functions
9. Other duties and projects as assigned by the Supervisor to support department and organizational needs

Qualifications

• Must possess a vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ and agree with the Joni and Friends statement of faith
• Desire to serve in a growing and dynamic Christian service ministry
• BS or MA degree in instructional design, educational technology or similar
• Solid experience with Learning Management Systems, specifically Canvas
• Basic HTML knowledge for use in Learning Management Systems
• Adobe Creative Apps or other visual design tools for use as media in online coursework
• Proven work experience in instructional design and with instructional technology
• Excellent knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models
• Lesson and curriculum planning skills
• Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Must be able to travel, domestically and internationally, and work evenings and weekends as needed
• Able to work effectively with Joni and Friends’ service departments to leverage partnerships for ministry success
• Understanding of Christian ministry and specifically Joni and Friends is desirable

Compensation for this position is $58,000 - $65,000 depending upon location, as it can be a remote position.
