The Instructional Designer will work as part of a mission driven team to design and develop a variety of educational and assessment materials aligned with Transportation Safety. The position will require creative and strategic skills, as well as increased resourcefulness, the ability to collaborate effectively within a team-oriented environment, and the ability to share in the collective team vision. The Instructional Designer will work as part of strong and passionate team and will be the liaison between client and technical teams and drive innovative solutions, leveraging best practices and practical adult education, learning, and training practices.


Duties and responsibilities include:

Perform education-based need assessments to determine necessary requirements for delivering proper education

Contribute to program planning and scoping for new projects

Design and develop training curriculum and content for adult end-users, including self-paced, web-based, and/or instructor led and Interactive Distance Learning (IDL) training, utilizing educational materials such as:

  • Exercises
  • Capstone materials
  • Case studies
  • Tutorials for various training topics

Use style and procedure guides to ensure consistency across content

Collaborate and proactively engage with teammates and cross-functional teams to effectively translate highly technical language into language end-users can easily understand and digest

Serve as a liaison between the project technical teams, communications team, and training and education team to ensure fluidity, collaboration, and coordination

Review and provide feedback on assessment items and instructional support material

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree, master's degree preferred  + 3 or more years of relevant experience
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and influencer skills
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal & written) with external clients and internal teams to assist in training delivery for projects
  • Self-motivated and flexible with willingness to learn
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision or with uncertainty
  • Must demonstrate a passionate commitment to delivering high-quality holistic education, learning, and training materials
  • Ability to delegate to others with willingness to take ownership
  • Ability to work calmly and constructively under deadline pressures
  • Ability to manage and keep track of multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Must be organized and have superior attention to detail

Articulate Storyline, Camtasia, and Adobe Captivate experience is desired but not required
