Summary: MH is rapidly growing, deploying the Virtual Hospital model through large-scale implementations followed by multi-year software and service contracts at health systems across the US and eventually globally. As the company establishes partnerships with providers on a national scale, MH is looking to expand its support for customer implementations and continuing education. We are seeking an Instructional Designer & Facilitator to join our Training and Customer Enablement Team. Using instructional design methodologies and adult learning principles, the Instructional Designer & Facilitator leads the design and development of eLearning, virtual and in-person instructor-led, and blended programs for MH’s Virtual Hospital customer training and internal education needs.
Reports to: Manager, Instructional Design and Facilitation
Location: Remote
Travel: Approximately 40% of national travel
Principle Roles/Responsibilities:
• Customer Training
- Designs and develops content for Virtual Hospital customer training (eLearning, virtual, and in person), including materials to support virtual hospital workflows, guidelines, and procedures, with an emphasis on the MH clinical model, team roles and responsibilities, patient acquisition approaches, effective virtual care practices, and technology and software.
- Works with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to storyboard and write content that is focused on the correct learning and performance objectives.
- Provides recommendations to trainers regarding in-person and virtual facilitation enhancements to improve retention of key learning objectives.
- Collaborates with internal clinical trainers and MH stakeholders, regarding program features, requirements, and learning objectives throughout the customer lifecycle (implementation and beyond).
- Partners with MH clinical trainers and customer training leads to implement a “train the trainer” model for ongoing training of customer staff in the virtual hospital model.
- Facilitates portions of the customer training as needed.
• General
- Provides instructional design recommendations to MH colleagues and departments who request support on training material content.
- Makes recommendations on future improvements to design, content management, workflow processes, and user experience.
- Applies adult learning principles, theories, and practices when designing and developing content, to ensure adult learners are engaged, retain content, and implement what they learned to improve their own, and their organization’s performance.
- Creates innovative on-demand eLearning modules that incorporate mixed media, such as graphics, animation, text, audio, and video.
- Contributes to scripts for courses, videos, and knowledge checks (quizzes) that validate achievement of the learning objectives.
- Uses learner, SME, and peer feedback to improve course effectiveness.
- Researches current and emerging learning and development trends and technologies to stay current in the field of instructional design.
- Drives collaborative, trusting relationships with customer counterparts during design, training, simulations, and ongoing training support; strive to be seen as a ‘go to’ by your counterparts for questions and concerns regarding instructional design.
- Provides leadership that inspires the provision of safe, world class, high quality, patient-centered care, and to nurture the training organization to be a key strategic, high-impact team.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, a related field, or equivalent experience. • Three to five years of experience designing and facilitating virtual instructor-led, web-based asynchronous, and/or classroom instructor-led training.
• Knowledge and experience in using instructional design models and adult learning principles in producing learning content for all forms of training delivery. • Proficient with Microsoft Office Products – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. • Proficient with Zoom, WebEx, or Adobe Connect (or similar platform) for virtual seminars.
• Ability to design and develop experiential and transformational content for a variety of delivery methods including classroom, eLearning, and virtual synchronous (via virtual delivery platforms). • Proficient with eLearning authoring tools for eLearning development. Experience with some of the following would be preferred:
- Articulate 360 (Rise, Storyline), Adobe Creative Suite, TechSmith Snagit and Camtasia for video development, Vyond or PowToon for video creation, etc.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to effectively listen, understand business requirements, and translate them into products.
• Team player with a strong work ethic and collaboration skills.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Proficient in executing all stages of the instructional design process - analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation - with an emphasis on new development and redesign.
• Independent, self-starter who knows how/when to use effective issue resolution and escalation management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate in team environment, able to handle conflict and drive through ambiguity with diplomacy, honesty, firmness, empathy, and confidence.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Has a passion for MH’s mission of transformational patient-centered care.
