The Instructional Designer role will be responsible for creating and maintaining self-guided product learning content, including (but not limited to) PDFs, simulations, infographics, and more. The ideal candidate is someone who is well-versed in adult learning theories and instructional design models. The individual in this role will be confident in their approach and can turn complex technical concepts into easy-to-digest content for a wide range of learners. Responsibilities:
- Write clear, measurable learning objectives and develop compelling, supportive instructional content that promotes retention and practical application
- Craft well-defined, relevant, and measurable assessment strategies to effectively evaluate learner retention of knowledge and skills
- Be a subject matter expert for instructional design within the Product sector, able to present best practices and methods to internal teams
- Identify and analyze customer learning needs to inform training solutions
- Collaborate with team members (e.g. Video and Visual Designers, Content Writers, Localization Managers) and subject matter experts (e.g. Product Managers, R&D) to drive the successful design, development and implementation of learning solutions
- Visualize and demonstrate learning solutions through storyboarding and rapid prototyping
- Analyze, update, and refine existing instructional content based on assessment results and evaluation data to maintain program accuracy and effectiveness
- Establish standards to support future content development
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, or other related fields; or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 2 years experience designing and building self-guided online learning modules, simulations, infographics, etc. with emphasis on engagement and long-term retention
- Minimum 2 years experience with creative design (Adobe Creative Suite or a software equivalent)
- Experience in security awareness, SaaS products, or the cybersecurity industry preferred but not required
- Experience with instructional design models (e.g. ADDIE, Kirkpatrick) and learning theories (e.g. Bloom’s Taxonomy)
- Experience structuring and prioritizing technical content into learning paths to maximize understanding
- Functional understanding of Javascript/HTML/CSS for eLearning development preferred but not required
- Experience with Web Accessibility Standards (WCAG 2.1 & Section 508)
- Ability to write effective instructional text and scripts
- Enthusiasm for lifelong learning through seeking growth opportunities proactively and researching contemporary instructional design practices
- Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS)
- Experience with MacOS
