What You Will Do:

The Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) is a key change management team member, responsible for all facets of training products, including course design, development, virtual delivery, update and assessment. This position will include the development and delivery of high-quality courses using a combination of web-based training, distance-learning, and instructor-led training.

  • Conduct the design, development and evaluation of adult professional trainings to support implementation of a Human Capital Management System
  • Collaborate with SMEs, business owners, and other team members throughout the design and development process
  • Adhere to a quality assurance/compliance guide and course design templates
  • Work with technical specialists and subject matter experts to:

    • Analyze needs and identify preliminary options for course design
    • Develop objectives and design specifications, such as: target audience; participant prerequisites; key performance and learning objectives; length and configuration of training; trainer requirements; delivery methodologies (e.g., trainer-led, online); instruction techniques and material types; course completion requirements, and course structure
    • Craft course design documents and preliminary course agendas for review and revision
    • Design instructional material that reflects an understanding of Adult Learning Theory and of the diversity of learning styles and delivery methodologies
    • Structure content and activities for the intended audience(s)
    • Assess curriculums, modify, and engage stakeholders to make improvements to ensure objectives are met
    • Apply appropriate evaluation methodology to assess learner performance and skills retention after course completion recommend course changes as required

What You Will Need:

  • An Active TS/SCI clearance with CI polygraph; MUST upgrade to FULL SCOPE polygraph
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • TEN (10) years of experience in a professional or academic environment.
  • Within the last EIGHT (8) years, a minimum of SIX (6) years previous experience developing high-quality courses using a combination of web-based training, distance-learning, and instructor-led training; Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with various instructional tools to produce blended learning program consisting of eLearning, classroom, and video-conferencing

What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • Bachelors Degree in education, instructional design, or related field
  • Proficiency in eLearning software tools (e.g. Captivate, Camtasia, Storyline)
  • Well versed in Adult Learning Theory and Instructional System Design to engage adult learners through multiple modalities (e.g. Andragogy, Transformative Self-directed)
  • Advanced knowledge of developing blended-learning programs and training materials based on proven adult learning techniques, using appropriate design, content, and technologies
  • Background in learning evaluation methodologies (e.g Kirkpatrick/Phillips) to determine the return on investment and retention from training attended
  • Knowledge of 508 accessibility and compliance; Experience with Instructional System Design for IT implementations
  • Ability to provide guidance to internal subject matter experts and external training providers on training format, materials design, and evaluation
  • Ability to manage the concurrent development of multiple courses according to project schedules
