Insurance Operations Program Manager

The Insurance Operations Program Manager role is a full-time role based in New York as part of the Sixth Street Insurance Operations & Program Management Office (PMO) team. The Insurance Operations & PMO team is responsible for providing support, subject matter expertise, and strategic insight to the Sixth Street Insurance business unit and Sixth Street portfolio companies in the following areas:
- Operations and technology due diligence of M&A / deal pipeline
- Insurance business unit project portfolio management and report syndication
- Program and project management of key initiativesÂ
- Management of key business processes for the Sixth Street Insurance team
- Support of portfolio company technology projects and system/data conversions
- Operating expense planning and budgeting for portfolio companies
- Mature interaction and engagement models with portfolio companies
As an Operations Program Manager, the candidate will play a key role in the continued build-out and expansion of the Insurance business unit. The candidate will work closely with Sixth Street’s investment professionals, portfolio company leadership teams, and internal and external partners to drive performance improvements across the platform and maximize Sixth Street returns. While the primary focus will be on support for the Sixth Street Insurance U.S. portfolio companies, the candidate would be expected to support the European portfolio companies as well. The overall objective of the role is to increase the value of the insurance portfolio by working closely with stakeholders to deliver on the Insurance Business Plan.
- Recommend and support strategies to improve operations, process management, and project portfolio management of the Insurance business unit
- Work with portfolio companies to enhance operational, technology, and expense performance
- Contribute to portfolio company operating expense and budgeting planning including staffing level assessments
- Provide operational risk oversight of portfolio companies and support operational risk assessments
- Contribute to improving and refining interaction and engagement models between Sixth Street and insurance portfolio companies
- Support the broader Insurance team on various projects in the U.S. and globally
- Partner across the Insurance business unit and other Sixth Street business units to deliver value for the franchise
- Perform due diligence on deals / M&A transactions; assess operational and technology synergies and conduct operating expense analysis to inform bid pricing
- Work with Insurance portfolio companies on strategic priorities
- Partner across Sixth Street asset management and operations teams to mature processes for onboarding and ongoing management of insurance investments
- As appropriate serve as a liaison for interactions across Sixth Street business units, portfolio companies, and counterpartiesÂ
- Success over the first 6-12 months will be defined by ability to drive improvement in the overall operational maturity of the Insurance business unit and the Insurance portfolio companies.

- At least 5 years of experience driving strategic operations and/or technology transformation in financial services (preferably insurance)
- At least 5 years of program / project management experience

- Thorough understanding of how to evaluate ROI of various operations and technology improvement opportunitiesÂ
- Self-starter who requires little direction
- Ability to multi-task and maintain composure in a high-volume environment
- Strong sense of urgency; ability to execute quickly and efficiently with strong attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities
- Structured problem solver who is able to synthesize complex information from a variety of sources into implementable recommendations and solutions

- Deep experience in financial services operations, preferably life insurance and annuities Â
- Familiarly with investment and asset management operations for insurance companies a plusÂ
- MBA, consulting experience, and PMP a plus
- Experience in private equity or alternative asset management a plus
The base salary for this position is expected to be between $125,000 and $175,000. The base salary offered to the selected candidate will be commensurate with a candidate’s relevant experience and other qualifications for the position, as determined by Sixth Street in its sole discretion.Â
In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and a competitive benefits package. Benefits offered currently include health, life, long-term and short-term disability insurance and a 401(k) plan. In addition, this role is eligible for paid public holidays (NYSE calendar), paid sick days pursuant to local laws, and additional reasonable time off subject to manager approval.Â
If a job offer is extended for a location other than New York, the salary range may differ based on the location.
