Why this role is important to us:
The team that you’ll be a part of impacts the company’s core insurance products and growth across all distribution channels. In the past six months we’ve helped the company achieve growth through the launch of two new insurance products and there’s no stopping our ability to drive future impact.
As a senior product leader you will collaborate with every part of the business and will be a key member in shaping and executing the company’s underwriting and insurance product strategy. Your primary responsibility will be to drive the management and profitable growth of the company’s Specialty Risk business, support the evolution of Spot from Broker to MGA, and mentor colleagues and peers along the way.
Responsibilities:
- Be ultimately responsible for the growth and profitability of our A&H products by managing key levers that drive portfolio / book performance
- Develop and manage rate / product filings as needed, working with and driving external consultants and internal analytics teams
- Work closely with Revenue and Strategy to assist in creating strong GTM strategies
- Stay informed about market shifts, competitive threats, market size, and external factors, and regulations impacting the insurance industry. Report on changes in the broader market context.
- Support the learning and upleveling of teammates when it comes to insurance knowledge and expertise

Functional competencies:
- Strong background in insurance. You’ve been a high achiever in insurance for 7+ years. Bonus for experience with Specialty Risk, specifically G/L and A&H
- Exceptional communication skills. You can turn complex ideas into simple concepts. You can explain loss ratios to someone who knows minimal math
- Digitally savvy. You understand the world of modern tech infrastructure and have the basics of how to talk to product and engineering colleagues
- Relationship savant. You know how to read people and understand how to drive outcomes that are critical to you
- Ability to conceptualize and analyze problems and solutions in a proactive, constructive and creative manner
A typical day looks like:
- Talking to Sales and Partner Success Managers to get feedback on how Customers perceive our insurance products
- Reviewing portfolio performance and diving into the weeds to understand levers / drivers of performance
- Connecting on Carrier Partners and developing / managing external relationships
- Reading industry trends and sharing insights via slack
- Work with Product teams to turn insurance product requirements into technical requirements
