Aluna is looking for an Insurance Verification Specialist to work with our practices and assist our Medical Billing Specialist with insurance verifications. The primary responsibility of the Insurance Verification Specialist is to assist with pre-authorization of insurance coverage, eligibility, and benefits by calling insurance companies manually or through the insurance verification website, Pverify.

As an Insurance Verification Specialist you will be

  • Calling insurance companies to verify eligibility, benefits and check if pre-authorization is required for RPM/PCM services
  • Do research on insurance contact information
  • Contact practices to obtain the correct insurance information
  • Obtain pre-authorizations as needed
  • Direct communication with Aluna’s Billing Specialist
  • Create eligibility/coverage reports for Practices

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years experience doing insurance verifications
  • Experience working in and with medical practices of various sizes
  • Must have experience with third party billing systems and collection of physician services
  • Knowledge of copay, deductible, co-insurance and OOP.
  • Knowledge of billing practices and clinic procedures (preferred)
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology
  • Knowledge with EMR systemsExcellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Self-motivated and driven
  • Able to learn about various types of insurance plans, inclusive of government plans
  • Ability to speak with various insurance company representatives to obtain patients' benefits
  • Must adhere to strict confidentiality and governmental HIPAA requirements
  • Ability to learn new software programs
  • Must have exceptional multi-tasking skills
