Summary

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a INTEGRATED PRIMARY PREVENTION OFFICER (PREV WF) TITLE 5 PERMANENT, Position Description Number T0034P01 and is part of the NH ARNG Command Section, National Guard.

  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Department of Defense (DoD) SPARX training should be completed within 90 days from the employees start date.
  • Must be able to obtain all required certifications
  • Travel between Concord NH and Pease ANG Base in Newington NH may be required. Travel out of state for training is required.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
  • The JFHQ Prevention Program Manager needs to complete an additional 30 hours of continuing education annually to maintain credentialing requirements.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 12 months of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12). Experience, education or training analyzing problems, identifying significant factors, gathering pertinent data and recognizing solutions; preparing reports, plans, policies and various correspondence; evaluating objectives and develop plans to facilitate the availability and effective utilization of various social science resources. Must have knowledge of the organization and its mission and utilized the organizational staff procedures. Experience applying analytical and evaluative techniques to issues or studies concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of social science program operations carried out by administrative or professional personnel, or substantive administrative support functions.

Well Qualified applicant:

Understanding of primary prevention, secondary prevention (intervention) and tertiary prevention (post intervention/post-vention).

Prevention experience preferred

In-depth knowledge of the programs, policies, and processes which drive Army National Guard (ARNG) and Air National Guard (ANG) drug deterrence, substance abuse, suicide post intervention and response efforts within the NHNG.

Has used analytical and interpretive approaches to learning.

Familiar with and has used quantitative data analysis methods.

Have appropriate knowledge of the position that demonstrates knowledge of the behavioral or social sciences.

Have supervisory experience to include providing performance ratings and feedback.

Education

Educational Requirements

Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position that included at least 24 semester hours of course work in the behavioral or social sciences. (Must provide copies of Transcripts)

or

Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field that included at least 24 semester hours of course work in the behavioral or social sciences. (Must provide copies of Transcripts)

or

Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

ACTIVE DUTY CLAIMING VETERANS PREFERENCE

You must provide the Statement of Service/Proof of Service must provide all dates of service, the expected date of discharge (must be within 120 days of discharge), and must provide proof of Veterans Preference claims (i.e. award of an authorized campaign or expeditionary medal, Purple Heart, VA disability letter, or served 180 days consecutively during an armed conflict declared by Congress) and anticipated character of service (Honorable, General, etc.), all awards and medals. Veterans should upload their DD-214 once they receive it upon separation. These documents must be complete and submitted prior to the job closing.

In accordance with DOD Instruction 1402.01 (Employment of Retired Members of the Armed Forces), a retired member of an active duty component cannot be hired for civilian positions in the competitive and excepted service within 180 days of retirement without an approved TAG waiver packet.
