Integration Engineer II

Vicarious Surgical is hiring an Integration Engineer to join our team in Waltham, MA. In this role, you will work on all aspects of our surgical system including software, controls, and electrical and mechanical hardware. You’ll have a working knowledge of how all the components, subsystems, and software work together to make Vicarious Surgical’s robot run.

Your work will have a critical impact at the center of our product development team. Your focus will be on taking mechanical assemblies, PCBAs and software and making them all work together. This job requires a wide breadth of skills, ranging from mechanical prototyping to system-level troubleshooting.

Vicarious Surgical is a next generation robotics company developing a disruptive technology with the goal of increasing the efficiency of surgical procedure, improving patient outcomes and reducing healthcare costs. 

Responsibilities

• Bring-up new prototype subsystems, documenting the process and feeding back any findings to the design or manufacturing teams
• Create hardware and software tools to streamline the subsystem bring-up process
• Identify and root-cause cross-functional problems that prevent subsystems from operating as designed
• Develop and run subsystem and system level tests to verify functionality of the robotic platform
• Provide support during system demonstrations and studies

About You

• Minimum of a B.S. in mechatronics, robotics, electrical or mechanical engineering, or a related discipline plus an M.S. or 2+ years of relevant work experience
• A strong foundation in basic electrical engineering
• Experience writing and debugging Python code
• Demonstrated ability to rapidly build and debug electromechanical systems
• A strong understanding of linear control techniques
• Experience with CAD
• Experience with part prototyping and fabrication
• Cross-disciplinary work experience and/or personal projects
• Ability to clearly communicate with stakeholders with technical and non-technical backgrounds
• You don’t have to Google more than one of the following terms: Ohm’s law, PWM, stress-strain curve, poles and zeros, git merge

Nice-to-Have

• Robotic systems or medical device work experience
• Experience working in a regulated industry
