Summary
This position is part of the Department of Energy (DOE), Office of Intelligence and Counterintelligence. As a Intelligence Operations Specialist, you will assist the Senior Counterintelligence Officer (SCIO) in planning, executing, and evaluating the Counterintelligence (CI) Program for all Department of Energy (DOE) federal and contractor organizations within the Denver Field Office (DFO) area of responsibility.

- This position has been designated as Special-Sensitive (High Risk) and requires a security clearance at the Q level. The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain this clearance; failure to do so may result in separation from federal service.
- In addition, the incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security clearance prior to entrance on duty; failure to do so may result in separation from federal service.
- The incumbent is required to complete an initial Counterintelligence (CI) evaluation and on a recurring basis, which may include a CI-scope polygraph examination.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing thereafter. Failure to test or a positive result on random drug tests conducted after appointment may result in removal from Federal employment.
- This position does not support 100% remote work. You will be required to report physically to the official reporting worksite as specified by the supervisor, but no less than 4 days per pay period.
- Limited telework may be available based upon mission requirements of the position.
- Hiring incentives may be authorized for a highly qualified candidate based on budget availability and in accordance with federal regulations.
- This position is not included in a Bargaining Unit.
Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-13 in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting ALL of the following
- Recognizing strategies, techniques, and methods of foreign intelligence to thwart and mitigate potential threats.
- Conducting national security investigations to thwart foreign intelligence exploitation, including documenting that activity while adhering to counterintelligence (CI) standards.
- Performing national security analysis to detect, identify, and characterize foreign intelligence activities, adhering to U.S. Intelligence Community analytic tradecraft standards.
- Conducting interviews with individuals as part of CI activities and recording the outcomes, which includes authoring Intelligence Information Reports.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
