Job Description
Summary
As an Architect or Engineer, you will be serving as a Senior Architect/Engineer and will be responsible for the performance of all aspects of the project management of capital projects, which comprise the most major, politically sensitive, and complex initiatives.
This position is located in the Public Buildings Service, San Francisco, CA, San Diego, CA, OR Los Angeles, CA.
We are currently filling one vacancy, but additional vacancies may be filled as needed.

If selected, you must meet the following conditions:
- Current or Former Political Appointees: The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule C or NonCareer SES employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the HR Office. Failure to disclose this information could result in disciplinary action including removal from Federal Service.
- Serve a one year probationary period, if required.
- Undergo and pass a background investigation (Tier 4 investigation level).
- Have your identity and work status eligibility verified if you are not a GSA employee. We will use the Department of Homeland Security’s e-Verify system for this. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of continued employment.
- Complete a financial disclosure report to verify that no conflict, or an appearance of conflict, exists between your financial interest and this position.

The GS-13 salary range starts at $117,776 for San Diego, CA; $120,246 for Los Angeles, CA; $128,717 for San Francisco, CA per year.
If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected.
This position has a positive education requirement: Applicants must submit a copy of their college or university transcript(s) and certificates by the closing date of announcements to verify qualifications. If selected, an official transcript will be required prior to appointment.
This position is interdisciplinary, which means the duties and responsibilities closely relate to more than one professional occupation. This position may be filled in one of the following occupations: Fire Protection, GS-0804; General Engineer, GS-0801; Architect, GS-0808; Mechanical Engineer GS-0830; Electrical Engineer, GS-0850; or Civil Engineer, GS-0810.

In addition to the Basic Requirements listed above, to qualify for the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal service.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
In addition to the Basic Requirements listed above, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience in the design of construction projects and coordinating the activities of architects, engineers, tenant agencies and construction contractors. Experience should also include directing all or large phases of a project including planning, pre-design, A/E selection, site selection, and all design efforts; and reviewing operations to evaluate progress and compliance with design requirements. This experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
