• United States Citizen Applying to a Cyber Excepted Service (CES) Position

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement for Operations Research Analyst:

Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in operations research; or a degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.

Basic Requirement for Data Scientist:

A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position.

OR

B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

GG-09: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe one year of specialized experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience would be demonstrated by (1) assisting with analysis of data in cyber, information technology, or other areas along with economic information to ensure plans meet programming and budgetary requirements; (2) assisting to provide business metrics and support for complex projects to identify needed improvements as part of a team; (3) using information systems hardware and software applications, and systems integration as applied to big data analytics and operational research.

GG-11: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe specialized experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience would be demonstrated by (1) analyzing data in cyber, information technology and economic information to ensure plans meet programming and budgetary requirements; (2) providing business metrics and support for complex projects to identify needed improvements; (3) using information systems hardware and software applications, and systems integration as applied to big data analytics and operational research.

GG-12: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe specialized experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience would be demonstrated by (1) leading teams in analyzing data in cyber, information technology and economic information to ensure plans meet programming and budgetary requirements; (2) developing business metrics and support for complex projects to identify needed improvements; (3) using information systems hardware and software applications, and systems integration as applied to big data analytics and operational research; (4) ensuring information used is in compliance with regulations and security policies.
