Intermediate Accountant

As an Intermediate Accountant at CoLab Software, you will work closely with the Senior Finance Manager to take ownership of the payroll process for CoLab and support month and year end audit processes. You will lead the account receivable and payable process for new customers and vendors in a timely and accurate manner. You could be the right person for the role if you are process driven, thrive in a rapidly changing environment, and have strong communication skills.  

What you’ll do: 

• Own the payroll process for CoLab Software. 
• Lead the account receivables process, everything from order form creation to invoicing, for all new CoLab customers, ensure billings are completed in an accurate and timely fashion. 
• Own the vendor account payable process including processing invoices in a timely manner and verifying accuracy, approvals, and account coding in accordance with company policy. 
• Interact with customers and vendors, as required, to support various functional requirements within the Finance department.
• Process employee expenses claims in accordance with company policy.
• Support the year end audit process, including the preparation of financial statements.
• Support non-dilutive funding applications and claims submissions.
• Support the annual budgeting process.
• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process. 
• Analyze monthly financial data and provide insights and recommendations to the Senior Finance Manager. 
• Continuously monitor CoLab’s financial controls to ensure they meet GAAP & audit standards.
• Conduct ad hoc financial analysis as needed.
• Prepare standard corporate tax filings such as: HAPSET, GST, PST etc.

What you’ll need: 

• 2-4+ years of experience in an accounting/finance role, with enrollment or completion of the CPA program.
• Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration or Economics.
• Demonstrated experience working with NetSuite, experience working with ADP payroll is considered an asset. 
• Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), bonus points for ASPE understanding. 
• Comfortable using Google products (Google Docs, Google Sheets & Google Slides). 
• Experience with general ledger functions, the month-end/year-end close process, and accounting software. 
• Experience in information technology or professional service sectors is an asset. 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
