The Intermodal Operations Rep is responsible for executing daily activities of Intermodal freight including all aspects of customer and carrier needs. IMDL Ops Reps focus on account growth and efficiency by fostering strong relationships and understanding customer commitments, as well as developing and maintaining relationships with drayage and railroad partners. An IMDL Ops Rep performs load management, tracks and manages container dwell, and ensures service quality while aiming to maximize profitability.
Daily Tasks & Responsibilities (include, but not limited to):
- Account Assignment & Knowledge: Execute daily operations for assigned intermodal accounts, understanding their growth strategies, goals, and contractual agreements.
- Load Management: Track all customer shipments, monitor assigned portion of the load board, and ensure all loads are covered and serviced properly.
- Customer Support: Provide exceptional customer service by responding to inquiries, updating clients on load status, and resolving any issues or concerns promptly and professionally.
- Communication: Communicate effectively and timely with both internal teams and external partners, using the appropriate channels.
- Relationship Development: Develop strong working relationships with both customer contacts and drayage and rail partners.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams to ensure smooth coordination and communication across all logistics functions.
- Problem Solving & Issue Resolution: Identify and resolve issues related to freight movement and update and manage incidents and accessorials to maximize profit.
- Teamwork: Actively work to achieve team goals. Assist in supporting workload for teammates while out of office.
Essential Skills, Characteristics, & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree Required
- Prior industry knowledge (1 year experience) preferred – Carrier Sales, Customer Sales, or Operations
- Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work quickly and efficiently
- Strong communication skills
- Detail oriented
