In the Technology and Products Group (TPG) Data Science team we provide solutions to sophisticated problems across Micron's compute, mobile, storage, and embedded portfolio. The team has two focus areas: (1) Enabling advanced modeling and algorithm development across a broad spectrum of problems to accelerate process and product technology solutions and decision making. (2) Using vast streams of data (mostly unstructured) and developing intelligence around these data streams to help technology and product development engineers develop semiconductor solutions faster.

Within the TPG DS organization we are hiring for Data Scientists in Product Design, and Systems Engineering.

As a Design Data Scientist, you will work on applying Data Science concepts to product design implementation and optimization, Electronic Design Automation (EDA), design flows, improving design quality and efficiency, as well as accelerating verification.

This role is an opportunity to work on impactful problems and address the complexity and difficulty of designing, verifying, and validating high density chips with huge scale of circuit capability, Ultra-High Speed and low power usage.

As a Systems Data Scientist, you will work on optimizing workloads, firmware parameter optimization, cloud storage memory management, power management/optimization, and firmware failure analysis.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Collaborate with functional engineers, data scientists, data engineers, business areas engineers to solve high-impact problems
  • Develop machine learning algorithms, automated processes, and software using large datasets from multiple disparate sources
  • Drive action through effective data presentation and data story telling

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding and application of Machine Learning algorithms
  • Experienced in Machine Learning libraries and in working with high dimensional, skewed and frequently changing datasets
  • Proficient in Python and/or R, in PySpark and/or SparkR, and in implementing data extraction from variety of data sources (GCP, Snowflake, Oracle, MS SQL)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in Semiconductor Design, Systems Engineering, Product Engineering, or Manufacturing flows preferred
  • Experience in statistical modeling and feature extraction desired

Education and Experience:

  • Pursuing Masters or PhD, majoring in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Material Science, Physics or equivalent
  • Semiconductor industry experience and/or knowledge preferred

The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:

$30.72 - $41.33

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure and relevant education or training.
