Position Overview

Autodesk makes software for people who make things. If you've ever driven a high-performance car, admired a towering skyscraper, used a smartphone, or watched great science fiction films, chances are you've experienced what millions of Autodesk customers are doing with our software. The Autodesk People Analytics Team is looking for a driven and naturally curious data science intern who can hit the ground running in a fast paced, complex environment. You will work with the team to develop and deliver strategic organizational insights using data mining, machine learning, and statistical interpretation. In this role you will help People & Places (PPL) reach its goal of having an industry leading People Analytics team, the project will focus on using data from many sources to create a method for ongoing research and analysis of Autodesk's most important asset, its people, as well as general industry trends in markets around the world. You will be a key member of the People Insights team, working to understand the desires of our people, measuring the impact of key changes, and communicating this information across the company.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct analyses on vast amounts of data to ensure an accurate understanding of the current state of our organization and communicate these findings clearly to our internal stakeholders
  • Apply statistical techniques to model internal behavior and trends to identify potential opportunities for growth and improvement
  • Build statistical models (both predictive and descriptive) such as network analysis modeling, retention modeling, survey interpretation and exploration etc.
  • Automate these results to ensure consistency and repeatability while expanding our ability to understand our organization
  • Communicate findings to executives and cross-functional teams in Product, Engineering, Finance and throughout the company

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 and enrolled in college or non-traditional education, such as coding boot camps or industry-related vocational classes and returning to school or program following the completion of this internship
  • Must be attending school in the country where the internship is being offered.
  • A mix of previous internship, school project, volunteer, and leadership experience
  • Pursuing a master's or PhD in Statistics, Math, Economics, Computer Science, Information Science, Data Science, Analytics, Machine Learning, Physical Sciences, or a related field
  • Proficient in SQL and Python and/or R

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience gathering, sourcing, connecting, and interpreting disparate data
  • Experience with data analysis and machine learning algorithms such as GLMs, CART/CHAID, Random Forests, Gradient Boosting, Cluster Analysis, Text Mining
  • Familiarity with working in big data environments like Hadoop, Hive and Spark
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau/PowerBI
  • AWS experience is a plus
  • A self-starter who finds new ways to solve problems through cutting-edge solutions
  • Passionate about insights, not just data. You're a strategic thinker and can synthesize methodology and data into actionable business and/or product strategy from your analyses

About the US Intern Program

The 2023 U.S. program runs for 12 weeks (May 22 - August 11 or June 12 - September 1). All internships are paid. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects, be mentored by industry leaders, work alongside peers from universities all over the country and participate in tech talks and other activities designed to support your personal and professional development. US recruiting begins in the Fall and concludes end of March. Salary is one part of Autodesk's competitive package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting annualized base salary between $41,000 and $81,400. Offers are based on the candidate's experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range.
