Job Summary:
Our Engineering teams-spanning mechanical, firmware, machine learning and AI, cloud, and mobile technologies and more-reinvent access by combining hardware with cutting-edge, cloud-based solutions to create a safer, smarter customer experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Electrical Engineer Intern is responsible for applying knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practices in general hardware and radio frequency design to projects that have limited complexity. The main emphasis is on design, development & sustainability of consumer products focused on access control. Wireless remote controls, Garage Door Openers, Gate Openers and Commercial Door Openers are examples of access control products. The ability to support other hardware & firmware engineers in day-to-day tasks is required. Additionally, this position requires the engineer to interact, communicate and contribute within a cross functional team environment.
This role will support:

  • Analysis of designs, debugs, & tests digital and analog circuits with limited complexity
  • Impedance matching of radio frequency circuits and antennas
  • Schematic capture & PCB design using Altium Designer
  • Simulation of hardware circuits in PSPICE, Electronic Workbench or HFSS
  • Write design specifications and test reports
  • Performs bench testing of designs
  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be able to work from our Oakbrook, IL office (15 miles west of Chicago) a minimum of 3 days a week


Preferred Qualifications

  • Driven to learn new ideas and design practices
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with MS Office tools
  • Experience with electrical test equipment such as oscilloscope, power supply, signal generator, spectrum analyzer or network analyzer
  • Experience with LabVIEW test automation software
  • Soldering skills
  • Previous Intern or co-op experience
  • Rising Senior standing towards a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
  • Experience with simulation software such as PSPICE, Electronic Work Bench, HFSS, and ADS
