This internship will include responsibilities for supporting the Process Automation group in Houston, Tx.

As an Intern you will be an integral part of our team, working closely with Project and Lead engineers during all project life cycle phases. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the Allen-Bradley products, programmable controllers, drives, motor control centers, operator/field devices.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and Development

  • Work alongside experienced engineers to contribute to hardware, network and software design and development of Control and Safety Systems for the oil and gas processes.
  • Gain exposure to various automation technologies, such as Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Humane Machine Interfaces (HMI).
  • Development of software applications using customer input documents like C&Es and Control Narratives.

Programming and Configuration

  • Collaborate with the automation team to write, test, and debug code for control system applications.
  • Assist in configuring and programming PLCs, SCADA systems, servers, network switches / routers and other automation components.

System Integration

  • Participate in the integration of control systems with various field devices, instruments, and sensors.
  • Support the implementation of communication protocols for seamless data exchange between different automation components.

Troubleshooting

  • Learn troubleshooting techniques for identifying and resolving issues in automation systems.

Documentation

  • Contribute to the creation, review, and update of technical documentation like Functional Design Specifications, Test Procedures, Interface and Data Specifications, Power and Heat calculations.
  • Document procedures, guidelines, and best practices for future reference.

Testing and Quality

  • Conduct Internal and Factory Acceptance Test of control cabinets, and process applications including controllers, IO, visualization software, network and virtualized systems.
  • Support Lead Engineers with Quality processes and documentation during project execution.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with basic programming languages (e.g., Ladder Logic, Structured Text, Function Blocks, Sequential Function Charts, C++) is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
  • Legal authorization to work in the US is required.
