Position Overview

As a Summer Experience Design intern, you will support platform design initiatives to improve Autodesk Developer Experiences. You will collaborate with cross disciplinary platform teams to investigate, define, and design ideal experiences improving developer productivity, trust, engagement, and happiness.

The Experience Designer at Autodesk is a relentless customer advocate, possesses a passion for human-centered design, and has a track record of executing highly impactful research and delivering user experiences using established design processes with cross-functional teams. Our designers leverage a wide variety of design methods and work in lockstep with their teams to understand root problems and constraints, explore and test design options, and ship high-quality experiences our customers will love.

The role will require top-notch user experience design skills, along with a strategic mindset that balances the needs of the customer with the needs of the business, and a thoughtfulness towards using data and instrumentation to ensure design decisions track towards measurable success.

Responsibilities

• Work with Senior Designers to plan and execute experience design throughout the design and development lifecycle, from early strategic direction through post-release validation.
• Employ a wide range of research methods, including generative design research and contextual inquiry, participatory design workshops, interviews, formative and summative usability studies, and quantitative methods, such as surveys and data analytics.
• Assisting with empathy and design-thinking workshops with cross-functional teams to ensure that findings and insights are translated into actionable product goals and direction.
• Develop information architectures, wireframes, interactive prototypes, workflow and systems designs that address priority pain points in the developer experience and ease toil in multi-step and cross-platform flows that meet pre-defined and measurable acceptance criteria
• Consistently considers the holistic developer experience including potential states (errors, successes, dead-ends, opportunities for feedback loops) in their work
• Collaborates with Developers to ensure implementation works as specified, listens to customers in sprint demos, collaborates with Product Manager to ensure customer needs are balanced with business considerations

Minimum Qualifications

• Students must be at least 18 years of age
• Students must be a full-time student, pursuing a BS, MS or PhD in user experience design, human-computer interaction, information science, data science, or a related field.
• Students must be actively enrolled in a degree granting academic institution or accredited boot camp at the time of internship.
• Students must reside and be attending university in the country where the internship is being offered.
• Students must have previous experience with effectively conducting user research and designing user experiences
• Familiarity with Software Development and Dev Ops workflows a plus

About the US Intern Program

The U.S. program runs from May through August for 12 weeks and will be remote (subject to change). All internships are paid. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects, be mentored by industry leaders, work alongside peers from universities all over the country and participate in tech talks and other activities designed to support your personal and professional development. US recruiting begins in the Fall and concludes end of March.
