The Finance Strategic Capabilities Unit delivers the expertise and business acumen to increase value across the enterprise by providing actionable information with recommendations and opportunities to drive sustainable business growth.
The Ball Aerospace Internship Program is a 10-week summer program that provides interns with practical experience working on relevant projects while working with designated mentors; access to state-of-the-art equipment; a competitive wage; relocation reimbursement; in-house training; group activities; possible future employment and the ability to participate in the Ball Aerospace Remote Sensing Team (BIRST) program to build and launch a rocket or high-altitude balloon. At the conclusion of the internship, interns will be required to prepare and deliver a formal presentation of their project work to their respective department.
Intern - Financial Planning & Analysis
This position is for an Intern in the Civil Space (CS) Strategic Business Unit. This individual will support the CS FP&A Team in providing financial solutions to enable the company to accurately project budgets, rates, financial forecasts, and reporting of key financial metrics. This role is within Finance, Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A).
What You'll Do:
- Support the FP&A Team with weekly financial reporting & analysis.
- Support the FP&A Team with budget variance analyses & help prepare for budget revisions.
- Support the FP&A Team through one Quarterly Reforecast Cycle.
- Support standardization of process flow and documentation within the finance function including for audit reviews.
- Assist with enhancing financial acumen within team and core business partners through training and communication.
- Ensure that business is conducted using the highest ethical standards and in compliance with company polices, work instructions, and directives.
- Prepare final project presentations through completion of a written paper and verbal presentation to Management.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
What You'll Need:
- Must have completed your sophomore or junior year and be enrolled in a degree program for the fall of 2023. We will also accept students enrolled in a graduate degree program.
- Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- Progress towards a 4-year degree with an emphasis in Finance/Accounting or related field preferred.
- Ability to communicate and work in a team environment.
- Knowledge of the following areas preferred: Finance, Accounting, Economic Value Added (EVA), Business and Economic Principles and Practices, Financial Modeling and Excel Spreadsheets.
- Ability to make detailed presentations of financial analysis.
- Ability to handle sensitive and proprietary information in a confidential manner.
Flexible On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site for three or more days per work week. Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

Compensation & Benefits:
- HIRING SALARY RANGE: $17.00 - $22.85 per hour (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
