Intern, Literature Review 



Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Master's student to join our team as a graduate intern. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting in-depth literature reviews to support our ongoing sales and program delivery efforts to improve medication adherence for patients with chronic and infectious diseases. Disease conditions include but are not limited to: diabetes, hypertension, asthma, sickle cell disease, HIV/AIDS, mental health, and behavioral health. Your work will contribute to the development of a strong knowledge base and inform program design for Medicaid managed care organizations and health plans within our organization.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive literature searches to identify relevant academic sources related to the specified topics, using key databases of interest such as PubMed Public/governmental, professional associations, and commercial sources are also of interest.
  • Review and analyze peer-reviewed articles, analyses, reports, and other academic materials to extract key findings especially as relates to clinical, health, and cost outcomes, methodologies, and critical insights.
  • Synthesize the information gathered from the literature into well-structured and coherent annotated bibliographies or other analytical matrices that support the research objectives.
  • Summarize complex concepts and results in a clear and concise manner.
  • Maintain a bibliography of all sources used and ensure accurate citations and references in accordance with the required citation style (e.g., NLM).
  • Collaborate with the team to align the direction and scope of the review with the project's goals and objectives.
  • Revise and edit literature reviews based on feedback from colleagues and project supervisors.
  • Manage, organize, and share research materials and sources efficiently.


 

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Master's degree program in a relevant field, such as public health, social work, other social sciences, natural sciences, engineering, humanities, or a related discipline.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to critically evaluate academic literature and research findings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong command of the English language.
  • Familiarity with academic databases, reference management tools (e.g., EndNote, Mendeley), and online research resources.
  • Proficiency with citation and reference style guides (e.g., NLM
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • A strong commitment to quality and accuracy in research and writing.
  • Strong collaborative and teamwork skills.
  • Prior experience in literature review writing is a plus but not required.



Duration: The estimated duration of the internship is 3-6 months. Ideally, deliverables will be completed on a rolling basis every 2 weeks. Deliverables will include:

  • Documentation of citations from the literature review
  • Writing brief summaries of the literature review findings
  • Documenting the associated cost of medication non-adherence for specific conditions
  • Contributing to proposal development and/or technical brief writing



Rate: $20/hour
