Your Role and Responsibilities
IBM Research Brazil seeks motivated interns to conduct applied research in Knowledge Integration and Artificial Intelligence more specifically in Knowledge Engineering and Machine Learning. The goal of this position is to research and develop innovative services and tools for being used by subject matter experts in Sustainable Material Discovery.
The intern will work on existing projects which have a well-defined plan deliverables and schedules. Those projects can be related to Knowledge Integration Knowledge Engineering Machine Learning and other fields related to AI.
Moreover the intern will acquire experience working with interdisciplinary research teams at IBM Research Brazil and IBM Research worldwide. At IBM we encourage the intern to take internal courses and attend talks/seminars to improve his/her skills in distinct areas. Therefore the intern will be able to learn apply the acquired knowledge in real scenarios produce useful assets and move forward state of the art through academic writing.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Required:
• Ph.D. or MSc student concluding the course in or after July 2025
Personal requirements:
• Abilities: teamwork initiative self-motivation creativity strive to learn
• Interest in working on applied research
• Advanced English
Technical requirements:
• Enrollment in a Ph.D. or MSc course in Computer Science Computing Engineering Information Systems or equivalent.
• Experience in programming languages such as Python (preferable) Java and Node.js;
• Familiar with software engineering good practices.
• Familiar with Knowledge Representation Knowledge Reasoning Machine Learning or Data Integration;

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

• Experience in writing scientific papers or technical reports is a differential.
