UX designers at Autodesk are savvy and passionate about creating beautiful, innovative solutions for critical, impactful problems. In this role, you will apply and develop your experience in design and research skills as you help us craft the next generation of electronics functionality within the Autodesk Fusion 360 product. You will work closely with a team of talented UX designers, along with stakeholders from Product Management, Software Engineering, Software Architecture, Content Development, and Quality Assurance, to create compelling experiences that help our customers solve their most critical "design and make" problems. The ideal candidate has a strong eye for design, research and natural curiosity for solving unique problems with out-of-the-box thinking in a collaborative software environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare design assets to support customer research and data analysis. You may be called on to participate in live customer research activities so that you begin to build your understanding of the real problems our customers face.
- Help distil customer needs into a set of capabilities that will benefit the customer in the most effective way.
- Learn how business, marketing, design and technical opportunities, goals and constraints become integrated into product designs.
- You will be able to conceptualize and create pixel-perfect design mock-ups from sketches, wireframes, and other UX deliverables that represent your design thinking capabilities. You and your designs must communicate that experience to our colleagues across our stakeholder groups and our customers to validate conceptual designs.
- Deliver design documentation for use by a wide range of audiences including Software Development, Quality Assurance, Sales, and Marketing. Review feature implementation, test plans and documentation to ensure accuracy of desired results.
- Participate in design review sessions with other user experience designers and receive constructive feedback that will help you develop your design abilities
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 and enrolled in college or non-traditional education, such as design or UX boot camps or industry-related vocational classes, and returning to school or program after completing this internship.
- A mix of previous internships, school projects, volunteer, and leadership experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to mechanical engineering or industrial design
- Exposure to CAD software
- General familiarity with design software such as Figma or Sketch
- Exposure with graphical tools and software - preferably 3D modelling tools
About the US Intern Program
The 2023 U.S. program runs for 12 weeks (May 22 - August 11 or June 12 - September 1) and will be remote (subject to change). All internships are paid. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects, be mentored by industry leaders, work alongside peers from universities all over the country and participate in tech talks and other activities designed to support your personal and professional development. US recruiting begins in the Fall and concludes end of March. Our Internships align with Autodesk's Flexible Workplace approach, which is designed to meet the needs of our business while providing flexibility in support of office, remote and hybrid work preferences.
