Intern, UX Research - Summer 2023 (Remote Work From Home)

Job Description
As a UX Research Intern, you'll impact the lives of everyday people and help them move from surviving to thriving with digital personal finance solutions. What you'll do:

• Collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders ranging from design, content strategy, engineering, and product management; problem-solving as an embedded and invested member of our product design teams
• Plan and conduct qualitative and quantitative research using a variety of methodologies, which may include interviews, usability testing, surveys, card sorting, journey mapping, contextual inquiry, and persona creation
• Own the research process from participant recruiting, screening, scheduling, developing study protocols and discussion guides, moderating, analyzing data, and presenting findings
• Communicate insights about users and their interactions with technology in compelling, creative ways, focusing on actionable recommendations
• Regularly meet with a UX research mentor for coaching, ongoing feedback, and tactical assistance
• Build your resume with hands-on experience, making your mark on personal financial tools and services that make a difference in everyday Americans' financial journeys

What you'll bring:

• Current rising senior (graduating between Fall 2023 - Spring 2024) actively pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, Design, Cognitive Science, Psychology, Anthropology, Information Sciences, or related field
• Knowledge of research methods in at least one subset of UX research methods (e.g., user personas, journey maps, usability testing, interviewing, survey design and quantitative data analysis, ethnography) - qualitative and/or quantitative research
• Experience conveying research findings and recommendations to non-researchers, preferably designers, engineers, or product managers
• Self-starter, taking initiative keeping relevant stakeholders in the loop
• Curious and creative; enjoy complex issues and problem-solving
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently on multiple projects at once
• Comfort with utilizing qualitative and/or quantitative data to define and support hypotheses (preferred)
• Experience with remote usability testing tools, such as UserTesting, UserZoom, Lookback, Validately, or Maze (preferred)
• Strong understanding of strengths and shortcomings of different research methods, including when and how to apply them during each product phase (preferred)
• Experience and/or exposure to some Design skills, a plus
