As Howden continues to grow, we’re kicking off a journey to review our communication and engagement platforms. This exciting opportunity requires a true subject matter expert to support the changes this project will recommend, therefore strong change management experience will be required.

We are looking for an experienced Internal Communications Channels Manager to join the team to work with the Head of Internal Communications & Engagement for the UK and Ireland to help us through a transition from multiple internal communication platforms and ways of working, into one.

This opportunity is offered on a 12 month fixed term contract and can be based flexibly throughout the UK, with travel to London and other offices as required.

Key Accountabilities

  • Content writing & layout: Repurposing complex information from multiple sources into easy to read and ‘sticky’ content.

  • Review and Audit: Gather the current as-is state for all internal communication platforms and channels for Howden UK and Ireland. As well as understanding the level of effectiveness of each channel and opportunities to improve their efficiency.

  • Impact assessment: Compare the project’s recommendations for an effective communications infrastructure and detail the change impacts and propose a project plan.

  • Solution: Structuring new internal communication platforms and channels and build an information architecture that drives engagement and improves collaboration.

  • Project management: Own and lead the change from as-is to to-be state, working with internal communications colleagues across the UK and Ireland and the associated IT teams.

  • Training and Support: Create training documentation and run training for SharePoint publishers and local content managers to ensure content quality and consistency.

  • Metrics and Reporting: Create a suite of analytics to track the efficiency of the platforms, channels, and content.

Person Specification

  • Channels subject matter expert.

  • Copywriting and image / video manipulation: Experience in Proofreading, content writing and layout, adhering to Howden’s ‘Tone of Voice’ and Brand Guidelines. Solid English language skills.

  • Deep knowledge of Microsoft 365 platforms, its capabilities, limitations and IT requirements.

  • Broad knowledge of other comms platforms, their ability to integrate with MS365, including social media, collaboration and content creation.

  • Experience structuring new internal communication channels, manage information architecture and roadmaps to drive engagement.

  • Previous experience reviewing, recommending and implementing a change in internal communications platform and channels strategy/infrastructure.

  • Experience in internal consulting/management delivering transformational change and projects.
