Title: Internal Communications Manager - Maternity Cover - 12 months
Location: London
Working Hours: Monday to Friday - 8.30am - 5.30pm
Hybrid - 2 - 3 days office in a week
Reporting directly to the head of internal communication and working closely with the broader communications team, you'll help shape the communications strategy for our business units-connecting communications, strategy, and employees. You'll create a heartbeat of communication that helps all employees feel fully engaged so they understand the role they play and the value of their contribution.
This is a highly visible role that will work closely with the business unit leadership, human resources, and other leaders, acting as a trusted adviser on a wide range of internal matters.
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and delivery of business unit internal communications and engagement strategy, creating powerful stories and keeping the complex simple.
  • Develop tactics that help all employees understand what the organization is trying to do, and what their role is in making that happen.
  • Advise on leadership communication, particularly ensuring consistency and coherency of messages.
  • Move us away from tactical "to go out today" comms and build a regular communications calendar, including newsletters, and help enable change covering internal news articles, intranet updates, all-hands calls, briefing packs, and town halls.
  • Encourage leaders to adopt behaviors and attitudes consistent with our corporate and brand values.
  • Promote understanding of internal communications as a critical business tool.
  • Foster the brand and brand ambassadorship among all employees.
  • Help the company enact its crisis communication plans under the leadership and guidance of our crisis response team.
  • Support the daily management of the enterprise communications platform (Poppulo) as a part of the enterprise administration team.
  • Support the delivery of wider global marketing and communications campaigns, e.g., embed our recent brand refresh.


Requirements

  • Must be fluent in English, both written and verbal.
  • A professional with 5-7 years' experience in internal communications.
  • You'll have proven experience of employee engagement communications for a complex, global organization and leading a team of specialists.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong editing and proofreading skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a good presenter-able to make recommendations with gravitas and inspire confidence from others.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills; good project manager.
  • Demonstrate efficiency in the use of Poppulo email platform or competitor equivalent.
  • Calm under pressure.
  • Ability to deal with evolving situations, conflicting agendas, and fluctuating priorities.
  • Strong understanding of organizational development, communications psychology, and people motivation.
  • Thorough understanding of communication planning and in-depth knowledge of the range and variety of communication channels and processes to ensure that the right communication reaches the right employee.
  • Ability to create and run sophisticated feedback mechanisms to ensure that a sensitive two-way dialogue can take place.
  • Flexibility in approach and ability to work with minimal supervision to plan and prioritize own work.
  • Experience in scoping, building, and developing intranets and knowledge management tools would be an advantage.
