Job objective: This is an exciting new role in a growing company. The right candidate for the position is a communications athlete with plenty of experience landing stories, working with executives and managing our approach to internal and crisis communications.  To be successful you need experience collaborating with seasoned executives and understand how to inform and update advisors, investors, analysts, board members and engage employees.  The right candidate has communications experience working both internally alongside an executive leadership team and externally with media to tell great stories.  This individual will work to support our executive team and be responsible for the development and implementation of internal communications and employee engagement strategies. You will also be responsible for working externally with media to identify strategic opportunities for our executives to share their story. You are a self-starter, strong project manager, critical thinker, creative strategist, can stay calm under pressure with outstanding execution skills. Confidence and agility are essential, as is optimism, resiliency, and flexibility. 


Duties

  • Ability to build trust with senior leaders in order to build a sustained internal communication plan.
  • The right candidate must be an effective storyteller and have a proven ability to execute communications plans, excellent writer, and verbal communicator, and have a natural ability to think strategically while delivering tactical results.  
  • Deep understanding of the modern influencer landscape and has built successful social media platforms.
  • Experience in crisis and reactive communications.  Having a plan to manage the stories that do not appear is as equally important as new solutions which come to market.  
  • Familiarity with or ability to quickly learn prioritized company technologies and solutions.
  • Ability to work with colleagues across the organizational to ensure successful execution.
  • Can manage multiple efforts at one time.
  • Can think strategically and execute tactically.
  • Can manage agencies and ensure projects stay on time and within budget.

Required Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of external PR experience, with at least 2+ years in internal communications and executive or corporate/government communications experience in fast paced environment
  • Prior experience working in Government, Intel and/or Military Public Affairs Office welcomed
  • Undergraduate Degree (minimum) in Communications, Business, Journalism, or similar field. 
  • Outstanding verbal and written communications skills including writing, grammar, editing and proofreading skills
  • Experience media training and preparing executive for media interviews
  • Self-starter, seeks initiative, learning mindset, seeks data driven insights, can work across multiple teams and personalities to gain agreements.
  • US Citizen and/or Permanent Resident (future security clearance may be required)
  • Must be willing to travel up to 30% of the time to support business needs
