Job Description

The International Payment Specialist I is responsible for processing international electronic payments and checks in accordance with departmental policies, procedures, and banking regulatory compliance. Ensures all tasks are completed timely and accurately relying on knowledge and understanding of departmental processes and service level objectives. Communicates professionally with clients and other line of business partners to ensure customers are provided the highest level of service.

How You'll Spend Your Time

  • You will process daily deposits to our Canadian USD and CAD bank accounts by making the appropriate GL and fee entries. You will also adjust the customer account for the exchange rate difference for CAD items that have been sent electronically to Canada and process Canadian Dollar and USD items that were mailed to the International Department directly, as well as processing any returned checks.
  • You will process weekly, or as needed, check deposits in any other foreign currency by crediting customer account and sending off the cash letter as well as processing any of these items that may be returned. This will also include processing foreign check collection items as well as following up on their status by corresponding with the foreign bank if they become past due.
  • You will process international USD and foreign currency electronic payment transactions for internal and external customers; ensuring all payments are processed in a timely manner while ensuring proper debiting and crediting of DDA and general ledger accounts and are following federal regulations, Bank Secrecy Act, as well as bank policy. You will also notify appropriate parties of suspicious activity.
  • You will provide customer service to all internal and external customers by problem solving and/or providing information on issues such as payment orders, laws and regulations, deadlines and/or customer inquiries.
  • You will maintain strict deadlines by following established procedures and regulations pertaining to international payment orders as well as International Department Service Level Objectives.
  • You will contact internal and external customers regarding research and confirmations, while also researching accounts and contacting account officers regarding approval on exceptions items.

Education & Experience Requirements

This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of an Associate's Degree in Business and 1-2 years' experience in electronic payments, accounting, banking or other comparable environments. Strong knowledge of related Federal, State, and Industry standard regulations.
