Within the CSG, the Human Exploration and Space Flight (HESF) Division supports our NASA customer in all aspects of human space flight. NASA's International Space Station (ISS) is the foundation of human exploration for our Nation and serves a vital role in developing Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and Cis-lunar capabilities and economies. The primary function of this position is to provide Reliability Engineering support to the ISS Program Office (PO) for future hardware/vehicle design, development, construction, launch, and utilization.
This is a fulltime hybrid position based in Houston that allows for remote work and does require some travel.
What You'll Be Doing

  • Planning and implementing Reliability Engineering strategy, including implementation practices and processes.
  • Conducting detailed system, assembly, and component level Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (FMEA) along with criticality analysis.
  • Developing and applying data analysis techniques for reliability modeling and prediction.
  • Generating reliability predictions for design through analysis or testing.
  • Collaborating with all engineering system and subsystem teams to implement integrated reliability analyses.
  • Formulating and providing recommendations to senior-level Program management on hazard and safety analyses, risk assessments, and evaluating operations to ensure compliance with approved safety requirements to minimize operational risk.
  • Developing periodic status reports and presentations, special reports/discussions of findings, issues, conclusions, recommendations, and risk assessments.
  • Coordinating requirements, technical objectives, interfaces, standards, issues and findings with subject matter experts and stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties for the customer as required.


This position is available as a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
Project Engineer

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering (Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, or related discipline)
  • 6+ years' experience working across government programs, both developmental and operational
  • Experience in performing Fault Tree Analysis, Reliability Block Diagrams (RBD) and Functional Block Diagrams (FBD)
  • Experience in analyzing and processing flight hardware failure data to calculate or refine product reliability metrics and recommend improvement measures
  • A broad background in space systems engineering including an understanding of space vehicle design, space system architecture development, ground systems support, payloads, and space missions and operations development
  • A strong attention to detail while appreciating the bigger picture of complex and ambitious projects
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills with experience communicating to senior decision-makers and technical audiences
  • Independent and self-motivated; proactive ability to serve as the primary interface to the customer
  • Ability to work within a team environment, where the team is distributed across multiple NASA and Contractor organizations
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to identify and communicate concerns to leadership in a diplomatic manner
  • Availability for occasional travel as needed
  • This position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.


Senior Project Engineer
Same requirements as a Project Engineer noted above, in addition to:

  • An advanced degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, or related discipline)
  • 10+ years' experience within NASA and the ISS Program, and/or NASA vehicle development

  • Strong understanding of safety policy and requirements for element hardware, payloads and operations, integration of hardware/software, and compliance with NASA program safety requirements
