This position falls under our Human Spaceflight and Exploration group. This position will serve as a Utilization Process Manager responsible for the integration of International Space Station (ISS) utilization activities, processes, and tools for the ISS Research Integration Office teams.
What You'll Be Doing
This role includes providing critical leadership in continuing to improve the Science Technology and Exploration (ST&E) Integration Flow and for the management of ISS community-wide integration of payloads, resource prioritization, and OZ Certification of Flight Readiness.
This also includes serving as the responsible NASA manager for the Research Integration Office Requirements Baseline Integration Tool (ORBIT) and Program Science Toolbox (PST).
  • Coordinate with ISS Program Offices, stakeholder community, International Partners, the Payload Integration Manager contractor team, the Mission & Program Integration contractor, and the research clients to execute and integrate utilization process and tool updates and implementation of new utilization processes that meet the needs of the research client community.
  • Ensure consistency in utilization processes and effective horizontal integration and planning across all payloads.
  • Identify and lead strategic changes that support the continuous improvement of ISS Program level integration.
  • Author, assemble, or modify utilization processes, payload community resources, and reference material.
  • Initiate and lead continuous improvement efforts to enhance utilization processes and tools and to increase ISS Research Integration Office's effectiveness in integration and planning of payloads for launch and operations on ISS; identify and develop process improvement and cost savings ideas for presentation to the appropriate ISS management officials
  • Participate in formal and informal International Space Station (ISS) forums, panels, and/or boards as needed, to identify and lead strategic changes that support the continuous improvement of ISS Program level integration.
  • Ensure that ISS Senior Managers are regularly informed about the overall progress of the integration of science and technology research onto the ISS via regular statuses, open issue briefings, and schedule assessments.

What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements
  • 8+ years' working in human spaceflight matters, both developmental and operational
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to develop and clearly communicate complex information
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Independent and self-motivated; proactive ability to learn on the job and serve as the primary interface to the customer
  • Ability to work within a team environment, where the team is distributed across multiple NASA Centers, Contractors and Private Industry

How You Can Stand Out

  • 10+ years' experience within NASA or working on programs supporting NASA Scientific Research
  • Understanding of specific NASA human spaceflight topics and research
  • Extensive project management expertise
