About our intern program:
Our competitive intern program offers interns exposure to the business world and a meaningful work experience. Interns are treated as valuable team members while learning from experienced professionals in a collaborative, fun and dynamic environment. Baird's summer intern program is a robust experience that includes an Intern Welcome Event, professional development, and networking with leaders and associates. Our interns have the opportunity to use a Baird Cares Day, a paid day to volunteer in the community. They are also eligible to apply for scholarships. Our Communications Team:
Robust internal communications are vital components of Baird's commitment to being a great place to work and strong brand. This internship works directly with Baird's Communications Team in planning, developing and implementing programs and efforts to effectively communicate Baird's messages.
Internship Location, Availability, and Hours:
Located in our downtown Milwaukee office, the intern must be able to work part-time during the school semesters, 15-20 hours per week, and full time during the summer, 37.5-40 hours per week. We are seeking a local student who can start in May 2024.
As a Communications Intern, you will:
- Work directly with Baird's Communications team in planning, developing and implementing programs and efforts to effectively communicate Baird's internal messages
- Participate in Baird's community campaigns such as United Way and the United Performing Arts Fund and learn more about how Baird gives back
- Assist with Baird's overall communications efforts, and in collaboration with our Public Relations team, help research, write and implement internal news stories, associate announcements, award nominations, presentations and other communications
- Draft, post and update items and news stories for Baird's intranet
- Attend and recap firm events, such as Baird Night at the Zoo and Talent Development events, as needed
What we look for:
- Current student pursuing a Bachelor's degree. Targeting May 2025 or later graduation dates
- Strong communication, writing, editing, and basic design skills (i.e. Canva)
- Experience with email tracking software, Google Analytics, Microsoft Office products and SharePoint is a plus
- Exceptional organizational/time management skills and attention to detail, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities and meet all deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Critical thinking skills with a solid work ethic
- A highly motivated, strategic thinker who takes initiative to learn and contribute to the team
- Ability and drive to provide strong customer service to all clients and associates
- Prior experience in an office setting is preferred
