Internship: Search Infrastructure Intern

About The Internship:

Unite Us is looking for a Summer 2023 Search Infrastructure Intern to join our growing tech startup that is transforming health and social services. The search service we provide allows users to quickly find the “best match” of available programs for people in need.

As our Search Infrastructure intern you will create an internal tools portal used by the Search Team and others to get a holistic view of the backend search service at Unite Us. This will include creating dashboards in OpenSearch, creating log queries in NewRelic, and creating a simple static website to pull together other resources in one place. This will be used to monitor performance, see status of indexing jobs, and test API calls among other things. This will simplify how support engineers can view diagnose issues. You will gain exposure to OpenSearch, NewRelic, and web development.

Our 8-week summer internship class runs from June 5, 2023 - July 28, 2023.

What You'll Do:

• Build a modern website housing tools for tuning search queries
• Work with dev-ops to deploy the website on AWS infrastructure
• Create queries and dashboards in OpenSearch
• Create and document some common NewRelic queries

You're a great fit for this Internship if:

• You have web development experience
• You are pursuing an Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Business Analytics, or related field 
• You have familiarity with Javascript, html, CSS or ability to query a search index
• You have experience laying out and organizing a website
• You have experience integrating various 3rd party systems through the web
• You have an interest in Search and/or Monitoring
• You have an interest in helping a mission driven company providing a platform for social care and community based organizations

Environmental Job Requirements and Working Conditions:

• This position is remote, U.S. based
• This internship is $22.50/hour for 35 hours per week
