Internship, Summer 2023

IonQ is looking for summer interns for 2023 to work with various teams across the company. As a summer intern, you’ll be part of a multi-disciplinary team of physicists, engineers, scientists, business analysts, and application specialists advancing our quantum computing systems and more. You’ll have the opportunity to gain first-hand experience in research and development, engineering, applications, and solutions development, or other areas relevant to your interests. 

The deadline for applications is January 15th, 2023 at 11:59pm, Pacific Standard Time.

Requirements: 

• Internships are 10 weeks in duration, June 12th - August 14th 
• At this time we are not providing housing or relocation - you must be willing to be fully remote within the United States or already be located in the College Park, MD area and not in need of housing for on-site internships
• You must be authorized to work or study within the United States
• You must be registered for at least 1 semester or quarter of school after Summer 2023 
• We are not currently open to internship requests outside of these parameters 

Opportunities: 

• Research and Development: potential opportunities include projects working on Atomic Physics, Optical, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computational Sciences and Software Tools 
• Quantum Applications: research and development of quantum algorithms to be executed on IonQ quantum computers 
• Software Engineering: a broad range of projects from cloud applications to security
• Education and Training: efforts to develop educational and training material for quantum computing 
• Company Logistics: this ranges from finance to marketing and more

You’d be a good fit if you are: 

• Graduate students with specific training in physics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, systems engineering, data science, and/or computer science/engineering
• Undergraduate students with keen interest in science and engineering 
• Deeply interested in quantum computing and associated technologies 
• Ready to tackle challenging problems with an innovative mindset 
• Someone who enjoys working in a team to achieve specific and complex goals 

You’d be a great fit with: 

• Demonstrated experience in research projects 
• Entrepreneurship or leadership experiences and/or skills 
• Great communication skills
