About the Office

APA Publishing is a major division of the American Psychological Association. One of the primary objectives when psychologists established APA in 1892 was the exchange of scientific information. Its annual meeting was the first component of knowledge dissemination; later, in 1927, the association added journals, an abstract periodical, then books, and finally databases.

Course Adoption and exam copies are an important function of the publishing program. Professors and librarians need to review APA's scholarly and academic books and the bestselling Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, now in its seventh edition to see if they will include them in syllabi and/or collections.

Requirements

The responsibilities and expectations of this intern is to:

• Support the programs and projects of APA Publishing, focusing on course adoption and exam copy approval and distribution efforts
• Customer facing interactions: liaise with professors, librarians, and other faculty at institutions around the world
• Review requests for authenticity and intent
• Conduct research
• Assist with other tasks for APA's publishing marketing team
• Attend department meetings
• Other projects as assigned.

• Connections with peers and professionals both in the field of psychology and in book publishing

Job Location - Remote: APA internships may be considered for remote work eligibility as defined in APA's Flexible Work Policy and are subject to approval.
