IPI Initiative Graduate Intern

This is a part-time paid position (10 hours/week) from February 2023 - December 2023 at APA that is funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation. The IPI Initiative Graduate Intern will primarily work on a new initiative aimed at increasing the dissemination and implementation of a set of recommendations from APA's Introductory Psychology Initiative on how to transform the Introductory Psychology course. This position is located in the Center for Education in Psychology in the APA Education Directorate. Interested candidates should have a strong interest in teaching and the dissemination of educational innovations and must be pursuing graduate studies in psychology.

Responsibilities

  • Help to develop and manage a timeline for grant activities
  • Assist the office in communicating and scheduling grant activities
  • Compile and disseminate resources: journal articles, book chapters, reports, and other publications that address best practices in the dissemination, implementation, and propagation of educational innovations
  • Participate in propagation planning meetings with working group and consultants
  • Assist the office with the preparation and planning of the early IPI adopters conference
  • Assist in the development of conference participant application materials and the review of applicants
  • Participate in the early adopter conference as a facilitator and note-taker
  • Assist in the development of conference summary and grant reports.
  • Help to identify future funding opportunities
  • Support additional activities that promote high quality education in psychology

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a doctoral program in psychology or related field (preferred); Advanced undergraduate will be considered
  • Interest in teaching and the dissemination of educational innovations
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Willing to work independently and demonstrate initiative
  • Highly proficient in use of Microsoft Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Strong attention to detail and able to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities
